On Tuesday, a trailer for ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ was released, offering a first look at the characters and the setting in the High Republic era. ‘The Acolyte’ is the first live-action show set during this period and the second overall, following ‘Young Jedi Adventures.’

Despite the show’s lengthy development process, the trailer generated significant excitement among fans. In fact, it broke a record. Within its first 24 hours, the trailer for ‘The Acolyte’ amassed a remarkable 51.3 million views, setting a new digital-only record for any Lucasfilm Disney+ series. This surpasses the viewership of trailers for popular series such as ‘The Mandalorian,’ ‘The Book of Boba Fett,’ ‘Andor,’ ‘Obi-Wan Kenobi,’ and ‘Ahsoka.’

The trailer introduced key characters and showcased plenty of action expected in the show. Creator Leslye Headland explained that the series draws inspiration from samurai and Wuxia films, originally pitching it as “Frozen meets Kill Bill.”

The cast includes Amandla Stenberg as Mae, a former padawan turned warrior; Lee Jung-Jae as Sol, a respected Jedi master; Manny Jacinto as Qimir, a former smuggler; Dafne Keen as Jecki Lon, a young Jedi; Jodie Turner-Smith as Mother Aniseya, leader of a coven of witches; Rebecca Henderson as Vernestra Rwoh, a Jedi Knight prodigy; Charlie Barnett as Yord Fandar, another Jedi; Carrie-Anne Moss as Indara, a Jedi Master; Joonas Suotamo as Kelnacca, a Wookiee Jedi master; and Amy Tsang. Dean-Charles Chapman and Margarita Levieva are also part of the project.

The series is set to consist of 8 episodes, premiering on Disney+ on June 4th. Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
