Doctor Who Episode “Lux” Gets Lowest Ratings in Show’s History

The newest episode of Doctor Who, called Lux, had very low overnight ratings. Only 1.58 million people watched it on BBC One on Saturday night, 19th April. This is the lowest number ever for the show. It’s also the first time the overnight viewers dropped below 2 million.
This is a big drop from last week’s episode, The Robot Revolution, which had about 2 million viewers. Lux was only the fourth most-watched show on BBC One that day. It came behind News at Ten, Casualty, and Blankety Blank.
But there’s more to the story. These numbers only count people who watched the live TV broadcast. Many people now watch shows later on BBC iPlayer, or on their phones, tablets, or smart TVs. Those full numbers, called “consolidated ratings,” will come out later.
Even though fewer people watched it live, the fans who did watch seemed to really like it. The episode featured a spooky animated villain named Mr Ring-a-Ding, voiced by actor Alan Cumming. Many fans thought he was fun and creepy.
In Lux, the Doctor and Belinda travel to Miami in the year 1952. They find a dark mystery inside an old, empty cinema. Along with Cumming, the episode also had guest stars like Linus Roache, Lewis Cornay, and Anita Dobson as the mysterious Mrs Flood.
Next week’s episode is called The Well. It takes the Doctor to a ruined mining colony far in the future. There, they meet the last person left alive.
Doctor Who was also competing with Britain’s Got Talent on ITV1, which had more viewers that night.
