Does Ban Die in The Seven Deadly Sins? Here’s What Happened to Him
Ban, the resident bad boy of The Seven Deadly Sins, has always been a crowd favorite and is one of the best characters in the entire series. Of course, the one thing that we know about Ban is that, throughout almost the entire series, he was unkillable due to his immortality. But things changed during the final parts of the storyline of Seven Deadly Sins. So, does Ban die in The Seven Deadly Sins?
Ban does not die during the events of The Seven Deadly Sins. However, Ban gave up his immortality during the final parts of the series so that he could keep Elaine alive. But while he did give up his immortality, he no longer needed it because he had become very strong in the 700+ years he spent in Purgatory.
While it might be true that Ban used up all of the remaining immortality powers that he had to keep Elaine alive, he no longer needed those powers during the final arcs of The Seven Deadly Sins because he was already strong enough to handle some of the strongest characters in the series. So, with that said, let’s look at whether or not Ban died and what happened to him.
Does Ban Die In Seven Deadly Sins?
Throughout the entire storyline of The Seven Deadly Sins, the one thing that we always knew was the fact that Ban was one of the main characters of the storyline. Of course, he also became one of the favorites of the fans because of the fact that he is the resident bad boy of The Seven Deadly Sins. And the one thing that made him stand out was the fact that he had immortality.
That meant that Ban could never die no matter what happened to him. His immortality allowed him to revive instantly after getting killed. As such, he had a no-care attitude in a fight because he knew that he was always going to come back to life no matter what happened. And this attribute allowed him to become one of the best assets of The Seven Deadly Sins.
Ban acquired his immortality decades ago when he snuck into the Fountain of Youth and was the last one to obtain its powers before it was destroyed. However, Elaine, Ban’s lover and the guardian of the Fountain of Youth, died when a demon attacked and destroyed it.
Nevertheless, decades after obtaining his powers, Ban became a member of The Seven Deadly Sins and even came across Elaine once more after she was revived by the powers of the Ten Commandments and even became their enemy before Ban snapped her back to her old self.
But, during the events of the final parts of the storyline, Ban had to go to Purgatory because Meliodas’s soul was trapped there. Because Purgatory is an inhabitable place where a minute in the real world is a year there, Ban was the only one in The Seven Deadly Sins capable of surviving the environment there to find his best friend. Of course, it goes back to the fact that he was immortal.
With that said, Ban did indeed face challenges while he was in Purgatory, as this was one of the toughest places to ever exist. He also found Meliodas and managed to go on decades of adventures with him while they were both trapped there. So, does that mean that Ban died in The Seven Deadly Sins?
Owing to the fact that Ban was immortal, he could never die. Unlike Meliodas, whose immortality is limited to the fact that he cannot die through old age and is cursed to never truly die after he gets killed, Ban’s immortality doesn’t even allow him to die. As such, he survived the events of Purgatory and managed to escape it when he and Meliodas fought the Demon King in that realm.
What Happened To Ban In Seven Deadly Sins?
While Ban didn’t die while he was in Purgatory, he did end up losing his immortality after he had returned to the real world. That’s because Elaine had used up all of her powers during one of the fights happening in the real world. That was when Ban made a decision that was seemingly tough for other people but was easy for him to make.
Using his Gift ability, which allows him to pass on his life force to another person and is essentially the reverse of Snatch, he used up all of his immortality to keep Elaine alive. And that was because he didn’t want to keep on living without Elaine.
As such, Ban was more than willing to give up his immortal life for the sake of keeping Elaine alive. He didn’t want to live forever without having Elaine by his side, and that was the reason why he gave up his immortality during the final arcs of The Seven Deadly Sins.
However, while Ban did indeed give up his immortality, he no longer needed it in terms of his battle prowess. That’s because he spent 720 years in Purgatory and was able to strengthen his body to the harsh conditions there. In that regard, Ban was already so much stronger than he was before he went to Purgatory, as the centuries he spent there allowed him to hone his body to the point that he was now capable of standing up to powerful demons. And take note, before he left for Purgatory, Ban was actually pretty weak in comparison to the Ten Commandments and the other demons.
Ban was even strong enough to tank hits coming from the Demon Lord and the Supreme Deity, who are two of the strongest beings in the entire storyline of The Seven Deadly Sins. In that regard, he no longer needed his immortality as he had already reached a power level that allowed him to stand up against some of the strongest characters in the entire manga and anime.
