Does Power Die in Chainsaw Man? (& Will She Be Back?)
Power is a Blood Fiend and a Public Safety Demon Hunter, who is part of Makima’s special squad. Power is one of the main female characters in the whole franchise and her importance in the first part of Chainsaw Man is undeniable. Still, Power’s destiny within the twister world of Chainsaw Man is somewhat surprising. In this article, we are going to tell you whether Power actually dies in the Chainsaw Man manga and whether we are going to see more of her in the future.
Power does, indeed die, during the Control Devil arc of the manga. In it, she offers Denji her blood and makes a contract to help in defeating Makima. She then becomes a part of Denji, as her body disappeared. Makima thus became their common enemy of Power and Denji. Although we don’t know what this means for Power’s future in the series but we hope she will return in the foreseeable future.
In the remainder of this article, we are going to discuss the future of Power in the Chainsaw Man manga and anime. You are going to find out whether she is actually going to die in the manga and whether there is a chance that we will see her again in the manga. We are also going to speculate on some other questions related to this main issue.
What happens to Power in Chainsaw Man?
The events we are about to describe happened in the Control Demon Arc and ended in Chapter 91 of the manga. At his apartment, Makima reveals to Denji that she invited Power and instructs him to open the door so she can kill her. Denji opens the door to find Power outside with a birthday cake for him; Makima then brutally kills Power by pointing a finger at her and blowing her torso off, leaving her remaining legs and head.
After Makima’s attack on Denji, Pochita suddenly woke Power up and asked her to save Denji; Power, quite confused, was convinced that she had died at the hands of Makima before, but Pochita assures her that her consciousness had simply transferred to Denji, due to Denji drinking blood from her earlier.
A few moments later, Power, as the Blood Fiend, emerges from Denji’s body, her appearance completely changed into a more demon-like look, while also wearing a mask resembling that of Pochita. With Makima confused, she attacks Power, but is immediately retaliated by an even stronger attack, thanks to the power boost that she had gotten from consuming Pochita. Makima then subdues her with her army of zombies, and shoots her right arm off, asking Power how she was still alive even though she had already been killed before.
Power then tries to grab Denji’s body and escape, but her attempt was immediately shut down when Makima shot her in the back, realizing that she had no chance of escaping. Makima proceeds to offer her a chance to give Denji’s body in exchange for making herself Makima’s pet again, to which Power happily proceeds to do so with no second thought.
However, Power remembered the bond she had made with Denji and instead attacked Makima and ran away from her. Makima then orders her army of zombies to chase after her, and while most of the zombies had managed to injure Power, she eventually goes into a tight alleyway. While remembering her ideology of all life being unequally important, including hers, and that a person’s death is nothing to be sad about, Power proclaimed that Denji is the only exception, as he was her very first friend.
Having managed to escape from Makima and her puppets, Power, and Denji return to their normal forms and find themselves inside a dumpster. Seeing that Denji was alive and well, Power hugs him and tells him that she came to save him, to which Denji replied that he had already achieved all of her dreams and that he was fine.
Power then calls him an idiot and a wimp for trying to give up, offers him her blood and makes a contract to help in defeating Makima. Before disappearing, Power tells Denji that even if a devil dies, it’ll always just be revived in Hell and be reincarnated in the surface world again, and when that happens, she will lose all memory of him and will be Denji’s enemy.
Power makes one final request for Denji to find the Blood Fiend again and turn it back into the old Power so that they can continue to be buddies again. When Denji finally woke up, her body had disappeared and become a part of his body. Denji himself then mourns for her.
How did Power die in Chainsaw Man?
As you could’ve read for yourselves, Power basically died twice in the Chainsaw Man series. Firstly, she was literally obliterated by Makima at the beginning of the Control Demon Arc. When Denji opens the door to Power, who is standing outside with a birthday cake for him, Makima brutally kills Power by pointing a finger at her and blowing her torso off, leaving her remaining legs and head.
But, Power somehow survived this thanks to the fact that Denji drank her blood earlier; she was thus saved thanks to Denji. This happened, as Pochita explained to her, because her consciousness had simply transferred to Denji, due to Denji drinking blood from her earlier. But, ultimately, she does die by becoming one with Denji again, as she offers him her blood and makes a contract to help in defeating Makima. She then disappeared and became a part of Denji once more.
Why did Makima kill Power?
Makima was a very wicked person. Not only did she hide the fact that she was the Control Demon, she also abused Denji as much as she could. After Aki’s death, Denji, who had already been under Makima’s control, decided to become Makima’s pet dog, not wanting to make any decisions for himself ever again. Being as evil as she was, Makima decided to abuse that fact by killing Power, Denji’s only remaining friend, in front of him. Why?
The reason for this is blood simple – she wanted Denji to suffer. There was no real reason why Makima would kill Power, as Power was not a threat to her, but she still did it without much thought. This is because she wanted Denji to suffer even more. What she did not know, though, was that Power would come back soon and that this manipulation would, ultimately, lead to her own demise.
Does Power come back to life in Chainsaw Man and when?
Now, while Power definitely is dead in Chainsaw Man, her last words give some hope for her return. Namely, as Power explained it, when a devil dies, it’ll always just be revived in Hell and be reincarnated in the surface world again, and when that happens, she will lose all memory of him and will be Denji’s enemy. So, Denji basically needs to find the Blood Fiend once it is revived and then return it to normal, so Power can once again come back to life.
Knowing how important Power is for the plot, this seems like a very likely scenario for her future in the series. What de still do not know is when that is going to happen, since we don’t know how the narrative of the sequel manga is going to progress in terms of pacing.
