Doomsday vs. Darkseid: Who Would Win in a Fight?

Share:

Very few fictional characters are able to stand up to Superman in a fair one-on-one fight, but Doomsday and Darkseid seem to be two characters that are somewhere at the top when it comes to beings that are capable of defeating Clark Kent. Of course, both of these characters are so different from one another in terms of their powers and abilities. But who between Doomsday and Darkseid would win in a fight?

New Earth Doomsday was strong enough that he was able to beat down Darkseid when the monster ended up on Apokolips. However, Prime Earth Darkseid is on a different level and is cosmic in terms of his overall powers and abilities to the point that he is beyond Doomsday’s own capabilities.

It is important to note that we are looking at Prime Earth Doomsday and Darkseid because these versions are newer compared to their New Earth counterparts. In that regard, there aren’t a lot of differences between New Earth and Prime Earth Doomsday, but Prime Earth Darkseid is simply leagues ahead of New Earth Darkseid. Now, let’s look at this battle in greater detail.

Strength

Doomsday is a creature of Kryptonian origin, and that means that he is incredibly strong. In fact, because he doesn’t have a lot of powers, he usually brutalizes his opponents using his brute strength alone. In the New Earth timeline, Doomsday was so strong that he was able to completely beat down Darkseid in their fight. It is said that his strength is limitless and is greater than what Superman possesses because, at one point, he was able to beat down the entire Justice League on his own.

Both the New Earth and Prime Earth versions of Darkseid are incredibly strong as this New God himself has the strength that could rival or surpass a Kryptonian that was fully exposed to sunlight. That is why Darkseid has been able to defeat characters that are just as strong as Superman. There were a lot of moments wherein he was able to overpower Superman and get the best out of him. But as strong as Darkseid is, his strength was never his strongest asset because he was never just a brute.

Doomsday is the epitome of pure destructive carnage because this mindless beast is incredibly strong and nearly unstoppable once he starts going on a rampage. This is why, even though the gap between them isn’t wide, Doomsday has the strength advantage over Darkseid.

Durability

Doomsday’s durability is incredible, regardless of which version we are looking at. Both versions of Doomsday are capable of withstanding powerful attacks from equally powerful opponents. In the New Earth timeline, Doomsday was able to tank Darkseid’s Omega Beams, which are powerful enough to completely obliterate planets or harm Kryptonians. On top of that, Doomsday has the ability to come back from death and become immune to whatever killed him.

As a New God with a physiology that is leagues above almost all of the other beings in the DC universe, Darkseid’s durability is incredible as he is able to take hits from Superman any damage. In fact, he was able to withstand the full might of the Justice League without dying, as his durability is just something else when compared to other characters. Darkseid is also durable enough to tank attacks that would have knocked out or killed other beings.

We may be impressed by Darkseid’s durability, but the fact is that Doomsday can come back from whatever killed him. That alone is already one of the greatest displays of durability from any character as he is basically immortal.

Powers and Abilities

A lot of people think that Doomsday is just a pure beast of strength and brutality, but they aren’t aware of the fact that he does have a few powers. Aside from the fact that he has the ability to become immune to whatever killed him in the past, he can siphon energy from lifeforms around him. He also has some sort of toxikinesis, which allows him to emit a toxin that could kill anything around him. And if the toxins weren’t going to kill the creatures around him, they would convert them into mindless murderers with Doomsday-like tendencies.

Darkseid is a god for all intents and purposes because he has incredible powers that provide him great versatility in any kind of battle. He possesses the Omega Effect, which allows him to manipulate cosmic energy to a great degree, as he often uses this energy for his Omega Beam, which is a beam so powerful that it could obliterate almost anything precisely and instantly. Darkseid also possesses a lot of other abilities, such as darkness manipulation, energy blasts, and power absorption.

The fact that Darkseid is a god is what gives him more powers and abilities compared to Doomsday, who seems to be more of a brawler with a few powers that make him dangerous. As such, Darkseid takes the point here.

Combat Skills

One of the things that people know about Doomsday is that he is a brawler that simply knows how to use his limbs and incredibly limitless strength to his advantage. He doesn’t know a thing or two about combat, but he is instinctively a brawler that could brutalize his opponents through sheer strength and murderous intent. While Superman was never the best hand-to-hand combatant, Doomsday was still able to match and overpower him in a fight simply by brawling with the Man of Steel.

Due to his intelligence and status as a New God, Darkseid is actually a skilled combatant that knows a thing or two about hand-to-hand combat. He rarely resorts to hand-to-hand combat because he would rather use his Omega Beams to defeat his opponents. But when he does fight, Darkseid has been able to prove himself skilled enough to overpower Superman and Wonder Woman in combat. As such, he is not just a simple brawler that uses his superior strength to his advantage most of the time.

Doomsday may be a powerful and instinctive brawler that can brutalize almost anyone, but he doesn’t have Darkseid’s skills. While Doomsday does have the strength advantage, Darkseid’s expertise in hand-to-hand combat can more than make up for his disadvantage.

Intelligence

If there was one thing that best describes Doomsday, it is “mindless” because of the very fact that he is simply a mindless monster that was wired for murder. He was created to kill and destroy everything around him as this is a beast that exists for pure carnage and destruction. In that regard, he doesn’t have any sort of intelligence at all, as Martian Manhunter was able to read his mind and deduce that it doesn’t think about anything except death and destruction.

One of the greatest assets that Darkseid possesses is his genius intellect. He is much like Batman in the sense that his intellect isn’t only scientific but is actually tactical and strategic in nature, as he is great at thinking several steps ahead of his opponents. Darkseid is also skilled at the art of deception and manipulation, as he has shown time and time again that he knows how to win a war without even fighting. In that regard, there aren’t a lot of DC characters that have been able to outsmart Darkseid.

This is basically a no-contest because Doomsday’s lack of intelligence is leagues behind Darkseid’s genius-level intellect. That is why the point goes to Darkseid, who is smarter than almost anyone else in the DC universe.

Doomsday vs. Darkseid: Who Would Win In A Fight?

Fans might not like the idea of Darkseid winning over Doomsday in our head-to-head discussion, but the fact of the matter is that we are talking about their Prime Earth versions, as Darkseid is a completely different entity in terms of his powers and abilities in this continuity. Doomsday was never nerfed from his New Earth version, which was strong enough to completely brutalize and beat down Darkseid on Apokolips. But Darkseid has since become stronger and was able to eradicate powerful cosmic entities all on his own due to how powerful he is.
