Early Rumors Hint at Guardians of the Galaxy in ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ but Some Fan-Favorites May Be Missing
Since the release of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 over a year ago, the film has been a standout success, both critically and at the box office, despite other projects not faring as well.
The third installment marked significant changes for the team: Star-Lord returned to Earth to reconnect with his human roots, Gamora joined the Ravagers, and Mantis set off to pursue her personal goals. Meanwhile, Nebula and Drax stayed on Knowhere to care for the children rescued from the High Evolutionary’s ship, effectively disbanding the core team.
The MCU’s new Guardians of the Galaxy lineup includes Groot, Kraglin, Cosmo, Adam Warlock, Phyla, and Blurp, with Rocket Raccoon as the new leader. Fans are eager to know if this team will appear in the MCU, and recent rumors from Comicodigy suggest they might show up in Avengers: Doomsday. According to these reports, Star-Lord and Nebula will also make appearances alongside the new Guardians. However, questions remain about the involvement of the remaining core members.
Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that Gamora and Drax will return soon, as both actors have indicated they are done with the franchise. Zoe Saldana has confirmed her departure from the role, and Dave Bautista has expressed a desire to move on to other projects, possibly in the DCU. On the other hand, Chris Pratt is open to reprising his role as Star-Lord for new adventures. Pom Klementieff and Karen Gillan, who play Mantis and Nebula, have not ruled out returning.
Given this context, the rumor about Gamora and Drax’s absence in Avengers: Doomsday seems plausible. Gamora is no longer the same character who bonded with the original Guardians, and Drax has found a new purpose post-Thanos.
