Elektra Is Back and Her New Costume in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 Is Already Breaking the Internet

For years, the fate of Elektra Natchios existed somewhere between speculation and heartbreak. Élodie Yung portrayed the fan-favorite version of the antihero throughout the Netflix shows, first appearing in the second season of ‘Daredevil’ before reprising her role as a resurrected antagonist in ‘The Defenders’. That crossover series ended on one of the most ambiguous cliffhangers in Marvel Television history, and the character had been absent from screens ever since. For a show that has steadily been pulling its Defenders alumni back into the fold, the question of whether Elektra would ever follow felt increasingly urgent.

The answer arrived not through a press release or a trailer drop, but through a set of Getty Images photos that spread across social media with the kind of speed only a genuinely beloved character can generate. Elodie Yung was spotted filming on the ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 set in Dumbo, Brooklyn, on June 23, 2026, in New York City, and the images left absolutely nothing to the imagination. Marvel Studios has not issued an official statement confirming her involvement, but the images have sent the fandom into a frenzy, with fan accounts declaring the return with considerable enthusiasm across social media.

The costume itself is the real conversation starter. In the images, she is wearing a sleeveless black jumpsuit with crimson red highlights, a red hairband, black tactical boots, and black-and-red gloves that also wrap around her forearms. On her waist, she wears an elongated red sash and has two holsters, one for each of her sai, along with a holster for a kunai on the back of her left palm. The new costume isn’t completely comic-accurate, but there is a lot more red than the suit Elektra wore in the Netflix shows, and it definitely looks more superhero-like. Fan reactions to the set photos have been overwhelmingly enthusiastic, with social media users praising the redesigned look and particularly celebrating the inclusion of the red headband.

The groundwork for this moment had quietly been laid for months. Showrunner Dario Scardapane, speaking to Nexus Point News, was careful but telling when asked about Elektra’s potential return, saying the writers’ room looks at iconic comic book runs and builds a wish list of characters, adding, “Everybody you have mentioned so far is on that wish list. There’s the stuff that I would love to do, there’s the stuff that they’re doing in the larger MCU, and sometimes those align and sometimes they don’t.” Yung herself had also been sending signals, posting gym workout videos during the spring that sent fans into a tailspin of speculation, and acknowledging the excitement with a message saying, “Ooooh You guys really want my Elektra back. I love it.”

Her body was never recovered after the building collapse in ‘The Defenders’, and the ambiguity of her survival has fueled speculation ever since. A return in the MCU-proper era of ‘Born Again’ would represent a genuine second chance for the character, especially given how her storyline in ‘The Defenders’ left many fans feeling the character was underserved. In the comics, Elektra returned to New York to honor Matt after he had been put in prison, actually becoming a new Daredevil herself, which maps eerily well onto where ‘Born Again’ currently finds Matt Murdock.

An insider report also claims the season will feature a fight scene between Bullseye and Elektra, with the stunt actor associated with Bullseye already spotted near Yung on set. Yung’s return is one of the many exciting aspects for ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3, as the Disney Plus drama is staging a full Defenders reunion, with Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones all confirmed to be returning. ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 is set to premiere in March 2027.

With Elektra’s new look fully revealed and a potential Bullseye showdown apparently on the cards, the real question is whether Marvel will finally give this character the story she deserved all along, so what do you think Elektra’s role in Season 3 should be, and does this new suit have you convinced she is ready to claim Hell’s Kitchen for herself?
