Fans, Brace Yourselves: Fantastic Four Reportedly Excluded from Upcoming Major MCU Release

The upcoming ‘Fantastic Four’ reboot, set to hit screens in 2025, is set to bring Marvel’s iconic first family into the MCU, much to fans’ delight. Pedro Pascal is set to portray Reed Richards, despite many fans campaigning for John Krasinski to land the role. Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm, with Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm and Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm.

Julia Garner will step into the role of Shalla-Bal, MCU’s take on Silver Surfer, though there are reports suggesting Norrin Radd may also make an appearance in the film.

Given the immense popularity of the Fantastic Four in Marvel lore, fans naturally anticipated a significant presence for them in the MCU’s future. However, according to industry insider Daniel Richtman, this might not be the case. Reports suggest that the superhero team won’t feature in the upcoming ‘Avengers 5’ at all.

Not just the Fantastic Four, but many recently introduced superheroes won’t be part of the mix either. It’s understandable, given the current crowded state of the MCU. Fans expect both familiar faces and a fresh lineup of heroes, like Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight, as seen in the image above. Reportedly, the movie will focus on a smaller team of heroes.

This approach makes sense, considering the Avengers team isn’t fully formed yet. That development is likely to happen during the movie, with hints about potential new members possibly teased in ‘Captain America: Brave New World.’ In the film, Sam Wilson will be tasked by Thunderbolt Ross to reunite the Avengers.

There’s not a lot of information available about ‘Avengers 5’ except that it’s faced some bumps in development. The trouble started when Majors ran into legal issues around the time ‘Quantumania’ was released. This led the studio to reconsider the movie’s direction. We’re still unsure if Kang will be replaced by another villain or recast, but one thing’s certain: the movie got a new title.

Filming is planned to take place in the United Kingdom, originally set to start in early 2024 before delays and Majors’s departure. ‘Avengers 5’ is scheduled to hit theaters on May 1, 2026.
