The MCU has a bunch of projects lined up for release in 2024, 2025, and beyond. While several movies are currently in the works and affected by strikes, none are as highly anticipated as ‘Avengers 5’ and ‘Avengers: Secret Wars.’ These films are expected to continue the MCU’s tradition of epic crossovers.
Just like ‘Infinity War’ and ‘Endgame,’ these two movies will be released only a year apart. However, unlike before, they won’t be filmed back-to-back, and they’ll be developed by two separate teams of writers and directors.
Very little is known about the director of ‘Secret Wars.’ The latest rumors suggested Sam Raimi as a top contender, but Raimi himself denied these rumors, stating that the studio hasn’t approached him yet. Despite the lack of official information, fans are speculating, and one recent name dropped is Quentin Tarantino. He’s supposedly retiring and working on his last film. MyTimeToShineHello, a prominent leaker, asked fans if they’d like to see Tarantino direct the final movie of MCU’s phase six, and the responses were predictably mixed.
Fans anticipate that ‘Secret Wars’ will completely reset the MCU to a simpler state. However, it’s unlikely Tarantino would adhere to this expectation. Instead, he might deliver a gritty, action-packed Nick Fury-led film, unrelated to the MCU. It could just be five hours of Fury swearing and yelling at the Avengers.
Some commenters argue that Tarantino wouldn’t be a good fit for the MCU due to the constraints of directing a Disney movie. Despite Disney’s move towards more mature content with projects like ‘Echo’ and the upcoming ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Tarantino’s style may clash with the studio’s expectations.
