Fans Reconsider How Bad ‘The Acolyte’ Is After Episode 5 as Ratings Begin to Improve

‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ recently released its 5th episode. Following Episodes 3 and 4, the controversy surrounding the show peaked, with many fans criticizing the witches of Brendok and several canon-breaking moments.
However, these issues are now nearly forgotten. Yesterday’s episode revealed the mysterious Sith Lord training Mae and featured the largest Jedi massacre since ‘Revenge of the Sith.’
The episode improved pacing (though dialogue remains subpar), but the standout was the choreography and intense lightsaber combat, rarely seen in recent Star Wars projects. Despite being both review-bombed and boosted, the series hit a low score of just 13% after Episode 5.
While social media responded positively overall, we’re curious about the reactions from those who initially viewed the series negatively.
The consensus on ‘The Acolyte’ so far is mixed, but it showed signs of improvement with Episode 5, reflected in its Rotten Tomatoes audience score. After hitting a low of 13%, the score has crawled back up to 14%—a modest but noticeable uptick.
There’s concern about whether the show can surpass what we saw in the latest episode; even Headland herself admitted it was her favorite. As a result, expectations for future episodes are uncertain.
