‘Fantastic Four’ Takes Fans Back to the ’60s in New Movie Ad By Revealing a Classic Villain

A fresh teaser for The Fantastic Four: First Steps has excited fans by showcasing Giganto, the massive sea monster and the team’s first comic book foe, in a unique Little Caesars commercial tied to the film.
The ad brings to life a iconic moment from the 1961 Fantastic Four #1 comic, crafted by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby, where the colossal creature emerges from the earth.

In the clip, the Fantastic Four leap into action. Sue Storm (Vanessa Kirby) and Ben Grimm (Ebon Moss-Bachrach) speed toward the threat in the Fantasticar, while Johnny Storm (Joseph Quinn) ignites his fiery powers and takes to the sky.
The scene captures the team’s dynamic response to the towering Giganto, a beast known in the comics for its immense strength and role as one of the group’s earliest challenges.
Giganto, as seen in the teaser, is the sea monster version from the original comic, distinct from another iteration linked to Mole Man, which resembles a giant lizard-like humanoid. This cinematic debut stays true to the creature’s roots as a formidable adversary.
Directed by Matt Shakman with a script by Josh Friedman and Eric Pearson, the film features Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, alongside Kirby, Moss-Bachrach, and Quinn.
The cast also includes heavyweights like John Malkovich, Julia Garner, Paul Walter Hauser, and Ralph Ineson, who plays the planet-devouring Galactus. The story unfolds in a 1960s-inspired retro-futuristic world, blending vintage aesthetics with sci-fi flair, as the team battles Galactus and his herald, the Silver Surfer.
Set to launch Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, The Fantastic Four: First Steps arrives in theaters on July 25, 2025, with screenings in IMAX, ScreenX, and 4DX. Its release date shifted multiple times, originally slated for November 2024, then February 2025, and later May, before landing on July.
The reveal of Giganto in a pizza ad is a clever way to nod to the Fantastic Four’s comic roots while building hype for the film. The retro setting and focus on classic villains like Galactus and Giganto suggest Marvel is aiming for a fresh yet faithful take, which could resonate with both longtime fans and newcomers.
