Forget Captain America and Captain Marvel—These Two Powerhouses Should Lead the Avengers Next

Share:

The MCU is gradually gearing up for the next two Avengers films, “Doomsday” and “Secret Wars.” With Victor Von Doom poised to be the primary antagonist of the Multiverse Saga, the Avengers are currently absent from the scene.

We can anticipate the reformation of the team in the forthcoming “Captain America: Brave New World.” As the roster will need to be refreshed, some new faces will inevitably step in to replace those who are either deceased or retired.

As the new team forms, the big question is who will lead them? Captain America and Captain Marvel are the obvious choices due to their extensive experience in leadership and military organization, with Captain Marvel also being one of the most powerful Avengers.

A leader of the Avengers needs tactical and strategic expertise, as well as the ability to inspire and act under pressure.

While these criteria seem to fit Captain America and Captain Marvel, consider this: either Spider-Man or Doctor Strange could also be the right choice for leading the Avengers during the Multiverse Saga.

Spider-Man has shown considerable growth and maturity through his tough decisions. His choice to decline Tony Stark’s offer to join the Avengers until he was ready demonstrates his grasp of responsibility and leadership. Peter has already made numerous sacrifices in the MCU and has extensive experience with multiverse issues, which would be invaluable in a crisis of this scale.

His encounters with the multiverse, especially his dealings with alternate versions of himself, have provided him with unique insights into multiverse threats. Additionally, after ‘No Way Home,’ Spider-Man is left alone and unrecognized, making his potential rise to lead the Avengers a compelling “from rags to riches” story.

There’s also Spider-Man’s unique connection to Tony Stark to consider. Before Stark’s death in ‘Avengers: Endgame,’ Spider-Man and Iron Man shared a special bond in the MCU. If Doctor Doom is connected to Stark, this could create a dynamic reminiscent of Gamora and Thanos.

Recent speculation suggests that ‘Spider-Man 4’ might be released between ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars,’ with the storyline shifting from a street-level approach to a multiverse-focused narrative. This suggests that Peter Parker will play a significant role in the impending multiversal crisis. Rumors even hint that he might serve as the anchor for Earth-616, similar to Wolverine’s role for Earth-10005.

However, Doctor Strange emerges as a more obvious and qualified choice. His profound understanding of the multiverse is crucial. His extensive experience with multiverse issues, from dealing with problematic spells to navigating various realities, makes him exceptionally knowledgeable about multiversal threats and solutions. His mastery of the Time Stone and the mystic arts further equips him to handle cross-reality threats.

Strange’s strategic and tactical skills are also noteworthy. He possesses authority both within the magical community and beyond and has demonstrated his ability to collaborate with other powerful beings, including the Illuminati and various mystical entities. His diplomatic skills would be vital for uniting different factions and coordinating multiversal efforts. Additionally, Strange’s ability to manipulate time and reality, and his foresight in evaluating multiple outcomes, would be indispensable in managing a team during a multiverse crisis.

Rumors have circulated for some time that Doctor Strange will play a pivotal role in the upcoming phases, and his past experience with the Avengers further supports his suitability for the role.
