Fresh Reports: Gambit, X-23, and Elektra Roles Explored in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine

Even before the ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ trailer dropped, it was common knowledge that a bunch of X-Men and other Marvel-related characters from Fox were slated to show up in the movie.

Elektra, played by Garner, was among the first confirmed cameos, marking her return since her standalone film in 2005. After that, reports surfaced about Dafne Keen reprising her role as X-23, and lately, Hugh Jackman and Channing Tatum teased on social media that Tatum might finally step into the shoes of Gambit, especially after his standalone project got scrapped.

Many fans speculated that the multitude of cameos and character variants would simply be fan service and nostalgia, leading to a disappointing experience akin to last year’s ‘Flash.’ However, if the rumors hold true, Elektra, Gambit, and X-23 are poised to play substantial roles.

As per MyTimeToShineHello, a reliable leaker, all three characters mentioned will join a resistance group in Void to combat Cassandra Nova and her villainous crew.

The idea of Fox heroes battling Fox villains sounds fitting, but it feels too reminiscent of ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ for my taste.

While we’re not sure about Cassandra’s actions in the movie, considering the source material, it’s likely she orchestrated a genocide, wiping out the X-Men and leaving Wolverine to deal with the aftermath alone. It’s probable that Wolverine had a chance to stop her in the past but missed it, leading to his isolation.

Nova’s base, referencing Pym Falls and the helmeted skeletal head of Giant-Man, suggests elements from the ‘Old Man Logan’ storyline may be incorporated, possibly even the central premise.
