The ‘Fantastic Four’ movie is generating a lot of excitement in the MCU community. Just a few days ago, the release date and cast were announced, confirming long-standing rumors. Pedro Pascal is set to play Reed Richards, while Vanessa Kirby will portray Sue Storm.

Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Joseph Quinn will take on the roles of The Thing and the Human Torch respectively. Filming is scheduled to start this summer. Due to a change in the release date, ‘Thunderbolts’ has been rescheduled to May 2, 2025. Despite the confirmation of the main cast, there’s still no news about the movie’s potential villain.

Several months ago, Antonio Banderas was reportedly the leading candidate for the role of Galactus in the movie. However, he was eventually replaced by Javier Bardem, who was also just rumored to be the top choice. Now that the Silver Surfer casting has been confirmed, our attention shifts back to Galactus. According to Justin Knoll, no actor has been cast for the role of Galactus yet, and there are currently no front-runners. This suggests that at some point, Bardem may have backed out of the role. Galactus is expected to be the main villain in the movie, which is a bold decision for the franchise’s debut installment.

Galactus previously appeared in live-action in the original ‘Fantastic Four’ movies. In ‘Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer,’ he was depicted as a disembodied cloud of cosmic matter, with his iconic helmet appearing later in the movie. This portrayal left many fans disappointed, although it was commendable to include Galactus in the storyline.

An unused storyboard scene by Anthony Winn revealed that Galactus was initially planned to appear in ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ as one of the villains for Jane Foster’s Mighty Thor to confront upon acquiring Mjolnir. However, this scene didn’t make it into the final cut of the movie. Nonetheless, the concept art suggested that Galactus would have been depicted in his full size.

We can probably anticipate seeing Galactus portrayed in his full size in the upcoming reboot, at least for certain scenes, considering his ability to assume various forms. What are your thoughts? Who do you think would be the ideal choice to play Galactus? Share your thoughts in the comments!
