Episode 5 of ‘Gen V’ presented yet another mystery. It wasn’t enough that A-List supe killed himself due to mysterious reasons associated with his brother. We’ve learned that “The Woods” harbors far more dangerous secrets than simply keeping dangerous, unstable supes away from the eyes of society. Dr. Cardosa is working on a specific virus aimed at manipulating the supes, and for that, he needs appropriate subjects.

He sets his sights on Marie Moreau because of her powers, but unfortunately, Dean Indira rejects his proposal because Marie is apparently protected due to having a mysterious, and we can only assume, quite a powerful benefactor. So, who is that benefactor? The show didn’t reveal this yet, but that doesn’t stop us from theorizing. There are some clues left in Marie’s past, so let’s dig into them.

Marie ended up in Red River Institue, the same place as one of the most powerful supes around

Marie’s powers manifested when she first got her period, and unfortunately, due to not having control over her powers, she became an orphan in a span of several minutes. The natural place for superpowered orphans is the Red River Institute.

We know that Marie was in Red River Institute for quite some time since Hughie and Starlight saw her file in Season 3 when he was faking interest in adopting a super to infiltrate the place.

Madelyn Stillwell’s son ended up in Red River, as well as many other unfortunate supes over the years, just like Victoria Neuman.

Victoria Neuman might be Marie’s benefactor

Victoria and Marie have a lot in common. They are both orphans and probably, due to their own fault. Victoria, just like Marie, accidentally killed her own parents due to the lack of control. And we know how deadly Victoria is despite “lobbying” against supes in general.

It’s possible that Victoria came across Marie while he was visiting the Red River Institute and felt sympathetic to her story due to growing up under similar circumstances. It’s also likely that Victoria is investing in Marie, seeing an asset in her, and their powers are also quite similar. Marie is also able to kill people long-range by manipulating their blood.

Victoria, being a congresswoman, is extremely powerful and rich, meaning she has enough resources and power not only to finance Marie’s education but also to remain hidden while she’s doing it.

After all, Victoria was in a similar situation once upon a time as well, having her own mysterious benefactor, and this brings us to Stan Edgar.

Stan Edgar already sponsored one orphan from Red River Institute

After Victoria killed her parents and ended up in Red River, it wasn’t long before Stan Edgar saw potential in her and adopted her officially. It was a long game and investment for the future, which turned out to be a brilliant move in controlling both sides of the supe world, the supes and the opposition.

We do know that Stan Edgar took care of everything for Victoria, changing her name, erasing her identity, erasing the evidence of her murders. He financed her schooling and her campaign for a congress seat.

Stan also has enough resources and money to finance the whole thing, so it makes him a clear choice. He might’ve seen something in Marie, another potential like he saw in Victoria. Who knows.

In any case, we’re going to come closer to figuring out Marie’s benefactor next week when episode 6 of ‘Gen V’ releases. Who do you think is Marie’s benefactor? Share your theories in the comments below!
