If you cannot wait for the upcoming video game Gotham Knights, we have one good and one potentially bad news for you. The good news is that DC just revealed a brand-new gameplay video featuring Nightwing and Red Hood. Bad news? The game will not be released on last-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, as it was initially announced.

On the official YouTube channel, DC revealed a 13-minute gameplay video that provides the best look yet at the game’s gameplay demo. We can see the game has a good vibe of the Batman: Arkham video game series, which isn’t really surprising considering that the authors of this game made Batman: Arkham Origins, which is the lowest-rated game of the franchise, but it still received favorable reviews from the fans.

Gotham Knights will feature four playable characters — Nightwing, Red Hood, Robin, and Batgirl — on their task to protect Gotham City after Batman’s death. The revealed gameplay video shows only Nightwing and Red Hood, but one additional video gave us a new look at Batgirl and her Batcycle.

This is the first game that WB Games Montréal developed since 2013’s Batman: Arkham Origins, although they provided additional development for Rocksteady’s Batman: Arkham Knight downloadable content. They have experience with DC games, and Gotham Knights seems like their most ambitious project yet.

The game was first announced on DC FanDome 2020, with a release date set for 2021. The game was later delayed to 2022, still set to be released for PC, PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. Today, we found out that the game will not be released for last-gen consoles, PS4 and Xbox One, because they wanted to give players the best possible gaming experience on the next-gen consoles, although that could result in weaker selling of the game.

Gotham Knights is set to be released on October 25, 2022.
