Although the Arrowverse we once knew almost crumbled, The CW isn’t planning to stop with superhero content, and their newest chance is the upcoming DC series Gotham Knights, for which the official trailer was recently released.
This TV season marked the end of DC shows Legends of Tomorrow, Batwoman, and Naomi, along with several other CW shows. The network is currently trying to reinvent itself, and considering the viewership has never been worse, they will need a lot more than a few new shows to regain the audience’s trust.
There are only three DC shows left on the CW. The Flash, which is the longest-running Arrowverse series and the second longest-running DC series in general (behind Smallville, which ended after 10 seasons in 2011), Superman & Lois, which is one of the most acclaimed CW shows in the last few years, and Stargirl, which still has to air its third season, but it’s unknown if the series will continue after that. Now, The CW is throwing their cards on Gotham Knights, a new DC series that will not be part of the Arrowverse.
Check the official trailer and the synopsis down below:
“In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights.” — Gotham Knights, official synopsis
Created by James Stoteraux, Natalie Abrams, and Chad Fiveash, the Gotham Knights series is starring Oscar Morgan, Fallon Smythe, Tyler DiChiara, Olivia Rose Keegan, Navia Robinson, Anna Lore, Rahart Adams, and Misha Collins, who will play Gotham’s known DA Harvey Dent. The series is expected to premiere next year on the CW. We wish them all the good luck.
