Gotham Knights TV Series Officially Ordered By The CW
After canceling several of their long-running shows, including DC’s Legends of Tomorrow and Batwoman, The CW seemingly wants to reshape the content they’re offering on their network. Superman & Lois and The Flash are the only DC shows on the network that are guaranteed to return next season, and Stargirl’s fate is still unknown, but everything else from DC that aired on The CW has had to bite the dust.
Still, The CW isn’t planning to stop with the DC content, and last night we got a confirmation that the Gotham Knights TV series has been officially picked up. The series was initially ordered earlier this year, and the pilot was filmed in March and April. The CW was seemingly pleased with the pilot and now the series is set to premiere next season. The CW also picked Walker: Independence, the Walker spin-off series starring Matt Barr and Arrow’s Katherine McNamara, and The Winchesters, the Supernatural spin-off series as well.
Gotham Knights TV series will not be a part of the CW’s Arrowverse canon. The series will follow a team of superheroes who will need to defend Gotham City after Batman’s alleged death. You can check the synopsis down below.
“In the wake of Bruce Wayne’s murder, his rebellious adopted son forges an unlikely alliance with the children of Batman’s enemies when they are all framed for killing the Caped Crusader. And as the city’s most wanted criminals, this renegade band of misfits must fight to clear their names. But in a Gotham with no Dark Knight to protect it, the city descends into the most dangerous it’s ever been. However, hope comes from the most unexpected of places as this team of mismatched fugitives will become its next generation of saviors known as the Gotham Knights.” — Gotham Knights TV series, official synopsis
