Heavenly Delusion: Who Is Tokio?
As fans will know, Heavenly Delusion is a very peculiar manga and anime series. It combines many known elements but still manages to create a uniquely special story that has succeeded in capturing the attention of fans worldwide. Aside from the plot itself, Heavenly Delusion also offers us a series of amazing characters, and in this article, we are going to talk about one of them and explain their role in the story. The character in the spotlight is Tokio. In this article, we are going to talk about the young androgynous girl we’ve seen at Takahara Academy, who was shown to be at the center of most happenings within the Academy’s walls. The article will reveal everything you need to know about Tokio and her role in the story so far.
Tokio is a major supporting character in the world of Heavenly Delusion. She is an androgynous-looking girl and one of the students of Takahara Academy, who looks a lot like Maru, the series’ male protagonist. She seems to be in the center of most of the happenings in the Academy, although the anime has yet to reveal essential information about her and her role in the story.
The rest of this article will be about Tokio and her story in the Heavenly Delusion manga and anime series. We will introduce you to all the facts that are known about the girl while, at the same time, not revealing too many spoilers from the manga, as the anime series has its own mysterious way of evolving, and we want to respect that. Still, if you’re not completely up-to-date with the events that have happened – so far – in the Heavenly Delusion manga, we have to warn you that the article is going to contain spoilers and that you might find out something you do not want to find out, so be careful.
Tokio will play a much bigger role in the future of the series
Fans of Heavenly Delusion will know that Takahara Academy is a mysterious and strange place. It is seemingly cut off from the outside world and implies that this is the Heaven the two protagonists seek. Whether that is true or not is something we won’t be revealing to you at this moment, as it is not our intention to spoil everything to you in this article. We suggest you take up the manga because it is really good and has a great storyline. Now, back to Tokio.
When we first see Tokio, there are two things that we can notice. One, Tokio looks like a boy. Two, Tokio also looks like Maru, which makes sense considering that Tokio also looks like a boy. But, while the second fact is correct for a reason, the anime will reveal the reasons behind this later on, so we won’t be spoiling it here for you, but we can confirm that there is a reason why Tokio and Maro look like each other. As for the first fact, we have to state that it is absolutely wrong, as Tokio is actually a girl.
And no, she’s not an LGBTQ character – she is a biological girl who identifies as a girl; she just looks a bit like a boy, and that is all. Tarao is in love with her, and so is Kona, whom Tokio loves back; we understand that you might have been confused by the Tarao×Tokio kiss, but as was seen in the series, homosexual romance was nothing out of the ordinary in Heavenly Delusion. But, as it turned out, Tarao actually kissed a girl, and if you ever had any doubts about it, the post-credits scene, which implies that Tokio and Kona are going to have sex, shows that Tokio is a girl, as we see a (covered) shot of her naked body.

Now that we have clarified this let us talk about Tokio’s story in the anime. Tokio is a student at Takahara Academy and seems to be in the center of all the happenings in the series (save for the romance between Shiro and Mimihime, but Tarao did ask Tokio whether she liked Mimihime, which she confirmed, but it was obvious that she did not mean it in a romantical way).
She likes Kona, so her relationship with him is somewhat in focus, especially in the context of his drawings and his relationship with the late Asura, whom Kona was close to and who had committed suicide before the story began. She was also very close to Tarao, who liked her a lot and told her to run away before dying; he also kissed her while he was in the hospital, which shocked them, but they reconciled before his death.
She also went on an adventure with Kuku. She discovered the secret laboratory with the strange babies, leaving her footprint in the laboratory, which a young scientist would connect to her. But, this is where things get interesting, as none of the security cameras noticed Tokio or Kuku in the rooms. This ability of hers was later seen in Episode 6 when she went to Kona’s room at night, but none of the cameras saw her. Her ability to become invisible has not been explained, and we won’t really know how it works, but it has come in handy on several occasions.
And this is Tokio’s story from the series. We have to reiterate that this is just a part of her story and that Tokio is an essential character to the series and to understanding what happens later; she also has a close connection to Maru, but we won’t be giving out too many details here. It is important that you understand, at this point, that Tokio is very important, that the reasons behind her being in the center of everything will be revealed later, and that they are quite important for both her and the evolution of the plot.
