Heavenly Delusion: Who Is Totori?
As fans will know, Heavenly Delusion is a very peculiar manga and anime series. It combines many known elements but still manages to create a uniquely special story that has succeeded in capturing the attention of fans worldwide. Aside from the plot itself, Heavenly Delusion also offers us a series of amazing characters, and in this article, we will talk about one of them and explain their role in the story. The character in the spotlight is Totori, the girl who would be the “Hotel King.” In this article, we will talk about the oddball girl we’ve seen in the post-apocalyptic series, who takes Maru and Kiruko to her hotel for one night. The article is going to reveal everything you need to know about Totori and her role in the story so far.
Totori is, so far, an episodic character who debuted in Episode 6 of Heavenly Delusion, but she is definitely going to appear later in the story, although we won’t be giving out any spoilers here. She runs a hotel in the part of town where Maru and Kiruko are and takes them in for one night. After her failed attempt at sleeping with Maru, she befriends the protagonists and reveals that she wants to be the “Hotel King.”
The rest of this article will be about Totori and her story in the Heavenly Delusion manga and anime series. We will introduce you to all the facts that are known about the girl while, at the same time, not revealing too many spoilers from the manga, as the anime series has its own mysterious way of evolving, and we want to respect that. Still, if you’re not completely up-to-date with the events that have happened – so far – in the Heavenly Delusion manga, we have to warn you that the article is going to contain spoilers and that you might find out something you do not want to find out, so be careful.
Totori might seem like an oddball, but more will be revealed later in the story
Fans of Heavenly Delusion will know that post-apocalyptic Japan portrayed in the series is a mysterious and strange place. It is seemingly normal and has a lot of elements, like our world, but it is isolated, half-destroyed, and dangerous. It is not an anarchy, but it is also not far from it. The anime still hasn’t revealed what happened to this world, so we won’t be revealing it, at least not here. We sincerely suggest you check out the manga if you want more information, as the story is great. But that’s enough about that – let us get back to Totori and her role in the story.
In Episode 6 of Heavenly Delusion, while searching for the 100%-safe water, Maru and Kiruko stumble upon a girl who oddly resembles Anzu, a girl we’ve seen in the Academy section of the story; now, this is nothing strange, as some outside characters really do resemble the children seen in the Academy. And while we know the reason behind this, we won’t be spoiling too much here to preserve the specific nature of the series. Now, getting back to Totori, what is her exact role in the story?
Well, initially, she just gives the protagonists instructions on how to reach the water, but as soon as they head to the location, she offers them a place to stay overnight, revealing that she runs a small but comfortable hotel. Maru rejects her offer, but Kiruko then suggests that they should leave their stuff somewhere while going to the place with the water, which makes Totori happy.
Maru later comments that Kiruko simply wanted to give Totori some money, which she confirms; she was seen again later after Maru and Kiruko return with her injured boss (actually the leader of a gang), and it is then revealed that the water was just a ruse to trap Maru and Kiruko, organized by the same gang they had encountered before. Totori lied for them, stating that they simply left after coming back for their stuff while they were hidden in the room.

During the night, when Maru tries to touch Kiruko’s breasts as part of her promise, Totori bursts into the room with a metal pipe and shows Maru some notes that seemingly forbid such activities in her rooms; as Maru and Kiruko received separate rooms, Totori grabbed Maru and took him out of the room before he managed to feel anything.
But then – a shock! When it seemed that Totori was going to reprimand Maru for his behavior, she actually offered to have sex with him, taking off her clothes and appearing completely naked in front of him. She even took his hand and put it on her breast. And while Maru did enjoy the feeling, he noticed that he could use his powers to “enter” humans as well, which scared him, so he called out for Kiruko.
When Kiruko came, she found Maru and Totori in a very suggestive position, so Maru received a beating and then had to explain himself. Totori was not angry with them and actually listened to their explanation, after which she befriended them and declared her intention to become the “Hotel King” with the best accommodation in town and have sex with every one of her customers that she liked.
In the morning, as Maru and Kiruko left, she was quite sad after hearing that her boss had died from the injuries inflicted by the bear. Maru and Kiruko offered her to come with them, but she refused, and as they left, Maru told her to definitely become the “Hotel King”, to which she just nodded sadly.
And this is Totori’s story from the series. Totori was, as we have said, a supporting character, but she had a very quirky role in Episode 6, and there are a lot of important things we have to learn about her in the future. As we have said, we won’t be giving you too many details here, but you should know that Totori is not just an episodic character and an oddball, i.e., that there is an important story behind this character that is going to be revealed later in the story. So, don’t simply remember her as the character who wanted to have sex with Maru, as there is much more to her than just that.
