Henry Cavill Has One Last Adventure as Geralt of Rivia in the First Trailer for ‘The Witcher’ Season 3

The Witcher series of books is one of the most influential fantasy series ever written, and thanks to the games developed by CD Projekt RED, the franchise became part of the mainstream. This led to a third game that is now considered one of the best video games ever made, and, of course, a Netflix shows that also managed to become a great hit for the streaming platform. Now, Netflix has released the first full trailer for the show’s third season. A season that will be undoubtedly special, as it marks the last season with Henry Cavill playing the main character, Geralt of Rivia. Killing, magic, love, and monsters in this final season for the actor.

The trailer sees our main characters finally coming into conflict with the power that Ciri represents. A conflict that will throw the universe into a battle that will span multiple dimensions. The lore of The Witcher World is fascinating and very complete. So, it is nice to see that the show is finally getting closer to showing us things that were only hinted at in the books.

The only thing that matters is that the execution is up to par. Let’s be honest. While the first season of the show was truly interesting, and it felt like something really important was happening, the second season was just merely entertaining, and it didn’t really capture all the mysticism and grittiness of the world.

While everything looks pretty cool, it is impossible not to have a sour taste in our mouths after seeing the trailer. Henry Cavill really did a fantastic job as Geralt of Rivia, even winning over many people who couldn’t see him in another role that wasn’t Superman.

Cavill has proved himself to be a real nerd in fantasy books and games, even preaching his love for Warhammer 40k at every chance he got. So, seeing him go feels bad, especially because it seems the reasons were conflicting creative differences. Can the show really continue without Cavill in the main role? We have to wait and see, but the producer will definitely try with Liam Hemsworth taking on the role in future seasons.

The Witcher, Season 3, will be released in two volumes. Volume 1 on June 29, 2023, and Volume 2, on July 27, 2023.
