Skyrim: Here’s How to Switch Weapons Quickly

Variety is the spice of life, and the same goes for weapons in Skyrim. We have many weapons and various gameplay styles at our disposal in Skyrim, and sometimes, we like to mix them since every situation calls for something different. It would be nice to shift between bow and destruction spell in the blink of an eye when it’s needed, and that’s exactly what hotkeys are for. Hotkeys allow you to shift between weapons, spells, potions, and other gear with a simple press of a button, so let’s see how it’s done and how to switch weapons quickly in Skyrim.

How to switch weapons quickly in Skyrim on PC?

To switch weapons quickly in Skyrim while playing on PC, you need to mark selected items as favorites and then assign them a hotkey. To do that, follow these steps:

1. Open your inventory
2. Hover above items you wish to put on your favorite list and press “F”
3. Leave inventory and open the favorites menu by pressing Q
4. While in the favorite menu, pres keys between 1-8 while an item is selected to assign it to a hotkey
5. Close the favorites menu, and that’s it. You can shift quickly between weapons and other items by pressing hotkeys between 1 and 8

You have 8 hotkeys at your disposal on PC, and you can assign almost anything to them. 

How to switch weapons quickly in Skyrim on PS?

To switch weapons quickly while playing on PS, you need to follow the same principle that’s used on PC. Follow these steps: 

1. Open inventory
2. Press the triangle while hovering over selected items to mark them as favorites
3. Close the inventory and press up or down on the D-pad to access the favorites menu
4. To assign your selected items to a hotkey, press left or right on the direction pad as well, and press until the small number 1 or 2 appears
5. You can now alternate between your two favorite items quickly 

You can favorite almost anything on PS as well. The only difference is that you only have 2 hotkey slots on your disposal while PC has 8. 

How to switch weapons quickly in Skyrim on Xbox & Switch?

You can switch between weapons quickly on Xbox & Switch the same way as you do on PS; the keys are the same. You can only hotkey two items or spells as well, as only the PC has access to more slots.
