Who doesn’t love a Lucky Egg? Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver are remakes of Pokémon Gold and Silver, which were released in 2009 and 2010 in Japan and the rest of the world respectively. How Do I Know If Chansey Has Lucky Egg?
Chansey is a pink-haired, ovoid Pokémon that lays eggs. In the Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, Chansey is a rare Pokémon that has a Lucky Egg in its possession, an item that gives you cool enhancements. Because the Pokémon is really rare in the SoulSilver, catching Chansey is sometimes quite hard. Outside the designated areas that are rumored to have inhabited Pokémon, finding Chansey equals one percent of finding it.
Not every Chansey has a Lucky Egg, which can frustrate a lot of players who probably spent a lot of time acquiring it. This means, that you will know if your Chansey has a Lucky Egg only after you catch it. It is annoying but Pokémon games always required more work and effort for acquiring special items. Lucky Egg is among those items.
What Does a Lucky Egg Do?
Lucky Egg is a special item that was first introduced in Generation II of Pokémon games. Unfortunately, a player character cannot buy the item from a clerk or someone else but needs to always catch a Pokémon holding it in its possession. However, even though you cannot buy an item, you can sell it in every game since its release, with prices stemming from 100 to 5000 Pokémon Dollars. The Lucky Egg can be sold to the gourmet maniac on Route 5 for 200 Pokémon Dollars in the Generation V games.
The Pokémon that holds this item, provides a player with double experience earned after the battle. In most Pokémon games, Lucky Egg contains happiness that provides players with the Experience Points boost after every battle. This is an amazing enhancement that will help any player level up faster and efficiently.
The Lucky Egg effect is mostly the same in all Pokémon games – in some the item is easier to find and in some is just harder.
What Does Lucky Egg Do in HeartGold and SoulSilver?
In Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver, the Lucky Egg has mostly the same effect, similar to other Pokémon games. It provides a player character enormous boost of Experience Points after every battle. It is also important to note that every wild Chansey has only five percent of holding a Lucky Egg which at the same time means that a Pokémon has 55 percent of holding any item.
All in all, catching wild Chansey is quite a work but in the end, it is worth it since it rewards your efforts by speeding up your hard-earned progress in becoming the best Pokémon Trainer in Johto and Kanto regions.
Preparations For Hunting Chansey’s and Their Lucky Eggs in SoulSilver
To even start hunting for Lucky Eggs and Chansey’s, we will recommend to you how to make this process easier, especially for the new players that do not know that much about acquiring rare evasive Pokémon. These tips are something some players suggested over the years, which means, these next steps are quite reliable.
The important thing you need to do before even starting to hunt for these rare Pokémon is to find a Pokémon that has the Compound Eyes ability (you can use Butterfree). Then, you need to catch or find another Pokémon that has the Frisk ability (Shuppet or Banette) that can also learn the Thief ability as well. These particular Pokémon have Ghost immunity as well and Chansey will not harm your Pokémon because of it.
After acquiring Pokémon and teaching them Thief ability, you will now go to the designated locations for catching Chansey with Lucky Eggs, which we will provide you in the next paragraph where you will have a high chance of stumbling upon these rare Pokémon.
Where Do I Get a Lucky Egg in Soul Silver?
Pokémon games always have special events and other game mechanics where players with their characters can go and catch the Pokémon they want or need, or just accelerate their experience more. Swarms, or particularly Safari Zone, which is located in the Johto region, is a home of a lot of exotic Pokémon, including Chanseys.
There are few locations in Pokémon SoulSilver where you can find Chansey with the Lucky Egg. First, you will probably get notifications of swarms happening all over the regions, and the ones you need to keep your eye out for are definitely Routes 13, 14, and 15 in the Kanto region. During Swarm events, there is a high chance of acquiring Chansey, and that is periodically occurring during in-game days.
Safari Zone in the Johto region is located northwest of Cianwood and can be accessed only when a player healded the sick Pokémon Ampharos and Amphy in Olivine City’s Glitter Lighthouse. When a player character gets access to the Safari Zone, there are six zones available for players to explore, and the one that has a lot of Chansey’s is the one all the way on the west side of the Zone.
In the end, Chansey is still pretty rare and sometimes hard to catch with the Lucky Egg, but following our steps, there is a higher probability of acquiring this rare Pokémon faster, and hopefully, we did a good job providing you with a few tips.
