Intriguing Theory Proposes RDJ’s Dr. Doom Will Target Ms. Marvel, Shang-Chi, and America Chavez First
This year’s SDCC featured a slew of announcements, including the news that Kang’s storyline will be sidelined as the Multiverse Saga shifts focus to the more formidable villain, Doctor Doom. Robert Downey Jr., who famously portrayed Iron Man until his character’s death in Endgame, will take on the role of Doctor Doom, marking a significant new chapter in the MCU.
The announcement of RDJ as Doctor Doom has sparked mixed reactions from fans, who worry that the MCU might not distinguish him enough from Iron Man. There’s uncertainty about how Doom will be integrated into the MCU, with theories ranging from no connection to Iron Man at all to the possibility that Doom could be a twisted variant of Iron Man from an alternate reality.
Recent rumors suggest that Doom might make his first appearance in Fantastic Four: First Steps. As we await more details, speculation continues.
Previously, we discussed that the MCU may adapt the Time Runs Out storyline (or a variant of it). In this storyline, Doctor Doom seizes the power of the Beyonder to “save” reality from Incursions threatening to destroy both Earth-616 and the Ultimate Universe.
Doom ultimately succeeds in reconstructing reality from the remnants of various other universes, creating what he calls The Battleworld. This marks the beginning of the Secret Wars storyline.
Several theories propose that Doom might attempt a similar feat within the MCU, potentially explaining how the Fantastic Four and X-Men will be integrated into Earth-616.
One fan theory, or rather a rumor from Comicodigy, suggests that to merge universes, Doom will need to utilize the Ten Rings, Kamala’s Bangle, and America Chavez. This would make them his primary targets.
The Ten Rings in the MCU have a highly mysterious origin, as revealed at the end of Shang-Chi when it was discovered that the rings are much older than previously believed and serve as a beacon calling something unknown.
America Chavez possesses innate powers due to her unique position across the Multiverse, with no variants in any timeline or alternate reality. Her abilities include extra-dimensional energy manipulation, allowing her to channel inter-dimensional energies and significantly enhance her strength.
Kamala’s Bangle, also known as The Quantum Bands, are cosmic artifacts with a deep connection to the universe’s history, used to create the network of Jump Points as seen in The Marvels and Ms. Marvel.
Given the MCU’s current lack of the Beyonder, Doom may need to replicate his powers through individuals and artifacts closely tied to the fabric of space-time and the multiverse.
