‘Invincible’ Season 6 Is Already Confirmed and Mark Grayson’s Future on Prime Video Has Never Looked Brighter
Few animated superhero stories have maintained the kind of relentless momentum that ‘Invincible’ has built over the past five years. Robert Kirkman’s Prime Video adaptation of his beloved comic book series has steadily evolved from a word-of-mouth hit into one of streaming’s most celebrated properties, collecting critical praise and record viewership numbers with every new chapter.
Season 4 concluded its run on April 22 and, per Skybound Entertainment, it was the most-watched season of the series to date, consistently landing in the Top 10 in over 50 territories worldwide. That kind of global reach, combined with a string of near-perfect critical scores, made it clear that Prime Video was holding onto something very special. The series holds an overall Tomatometer score of 99% and a 91% Popcornmeter score, making it one of the most acclaimed animated shows in recent memory.
That momentum has now translated into a major milestone for the show. During Prime Video’s first-ever Studio Focus Panel at the Annecy International Animation Festival, executive producer and co-showrunner Robert Kirkman revealed that ‘Invincible’ has been renewed for a sixth season, before its fifth has even premiered, making it the streamer’s longest animated series to date. The official @InvincibleHQ account on X captured the energy of the announcement perfectly, posting a piece of art showing Mark riding Dinosaurus alongside the words “Season 6 Confirmed” and the caption “Mark, this is good news!”
Kirkman addressed fans and the industry in a statement shared at the event, saying that “one of the biggest rewards of building ‘Invincible’ over the years has been witnessing how new audiences continue to connect with these characters and this world, almost 25 years after its creation,” adding that “there’s still so much story left to tell.” Prime Video Head of Animation Melissa Wolfe echoed that sentiment, stating that the renewal is part of the streamer’s broader push to prove that “animation isn’t a genre, it’s a canvas.”
The Annecy panel also brought another exciting announcement alongside the renewal. Shortly after the Season 6 confirmation, it was revealed that ‘The Boys’ star Jack Quaid would be joining the voice cast for Season 5, taking on the role of villain Gravitator. In the comics, Gravitator is a genius engineer who can manipulate gravity, and eventually transitions from antagonist to ally after an encounter with Invincible himself. Kirkman also announced that longtime supervising directors Shaun O’Neill and Dan Duncan would be stepping up as executive producers going forward.
With its sixth season renewal, ‘Invincible’ now matches Netflix’s ‘BoJack Horseman’ as the joint-longest-running animated streaming original series. Season 5 is expected to arrive sometime in 2027, with Season 6 presumably following in 2028, as the show continues on its annual release cadence. Kirkman has long spoken about his vision for the series running between seven and nine seasons in total, and with two more chapters secured, the end of Mark Grayson’s story feels both inevitable and still deliciously far away.
Whether you think Quaid is the perfect choice for Gravitator or you’re already speculating about what corners of the comics Season 6 might finally bring to the screen, now is the time to share your theories.
