One Piece: Is Doflamingo Really Dead? Here’s What Happened to Him!

As far as One Piece villains go, Donquixote Doflamingo was not just one of the strongest villains in the series; he was one of the most intriguing ones. His fights with Luffy attracted a lot of attention, as did his tyrannic rule over the people of Dessrosa. But, just like all tyrants eventually meet their ends, so did Doflamingo at one point. He was defeated by Luffy, and he then disappeared from the scene. In this article, we are going to tell you whether Doflamingo is actually dead and what happened to him in the end.
What happened to Donquixote Doflamingo in One Piece?
Donquixote Doflamingo was one of the Seven Warlords of the Sea and the king of Dressrosa. With his massive mafia network of S.A.D being used to create artificial Devil Fruits, he ruled the underworld in the New World under the alias “Joker.” He was one of the main antagonists of the New World. Doflamingo ruled Dressrosa as a tyrant until his defeat at the hands of Monkey D. Luffy. What follows is a recap of these events that will also reveal what happened to Doflamingo.
As Diamante, Trebol, and Lao G argue about Sugar being beaten and the Mera Mera no Mi being eaten by Sabo, Doflamingo tells them to stop as it will lead nowhere and forgives the failures of his two lieutenants. Worried, the Ace of Diamonds asks what they will do with Fujitora, who gives them a slight problem, but Doflamingo states that there is nothing to worry about and adds that he will eliminate him when the time comes.
Law and Luffy confront Doflamingo and Trebol after finding that Doflamingo had already defeated Bellamy. Luffy lands the first blow with Law’s assistance, but Doflamingo remains relatively unaffected and defends Trebol. Doflamingo neutralizes both Law and Luffy using his Haki. He reveals his deep hatred for his father and the loss of Celestial Dragon privileges. Doflamingo attempts to finish off Law by making his clone fight while explaining his ability to summon CP-0 due to a privilege in Mary Geoise. He mentions controlling the world through the Ope Ope No Mi, which he could have obtained from Law.
Doflamingo discusses Ope Ope No Mi’s ability to grant eternal life at the cost of the user’s life. The fight between Doflamingo and Law ensues, with Law using his power to attack from behind. Law reveals his “D” heritage and defends himself with Haki. Doflamingo launches attacks, but Trebol warns him as he enters Law’s fighting range. Law uses an Injection Shot to pierce his abdomen, vowing to pull the trigger that Corazon couldn’t. Despite Law’s attempt to throw a tower at Doflamingo, the latter effortlessly stops it. Law tries to maneuver behind Doflamingo using rubble, but Doflamingo catches his arm.
Doflamingo, after severing Law’s arm, talks about Corazon and his wish to save Dressrosa. He mocks Law, claiming forgiveness just as he forgave his father and brother posthumously. Doflamingo attempts to finish Law with a gun but is interrupted by his shattered clone. He releases control over Bellamy at Luffy’s request and waits for Luffy’s arrival. Upon Luffy’s appearance, Doflamingo discovers Law is still alive. A fight ensues between Doflamingo, Luffy, and Law. Trebol joins but is defeated by Law. Cavendish rescues the injured Law, leaving Doflamingo to face Luffy alone.
The battle intensifies, with Doflamingo witnessing Luffy’s activation of Gear Fourth. However, he underestimates the extent of this technique and is overpowered, being crushed and sent flying. Despite recovering quickly, Doflamingo smiles at seeing Luffy suffer from the aftermath of Gear Fourth. He steps forward, facing opposition from Gladiators who try to buy time for Luffy to recharge his Haki. Frustrated by their interference, Doflamingo struggles to reach Luffy. He encounters Viola, who is determined to end him. In a brutal scene witnessed by Rebecca, Doflamingo mercilessly attacks Viola.
Doflamingo, using his power, manipulates Rebecca to attack Viola, relishing the distress of the two women. However, Luffy intervenes just in time, surprising Doflamingo. Despite Luffy regaining his Haki, Doflamingo sees him weakened and engages in a dominant fight. Eventually, Luffy fulfills his promise and defeats Doflamingo with a single powerful hit. The unconscious Doflamingo is covered with Granit Marin by the Marines. In Chapter 801, he is aboard a Navy ship escorted by Fujitora, Sengoku, and Tsuru. Doflamingo reflects on the upcoming Pirate King and hints at changes for the Celestial Dragons.
After his defeat, Doflamingo requests a newspaper as his only distraction in Impel Down. Emperor Kaido’s fleet, led by Captain Jack, plans to assault the Navy buildings to free Doflamingo. Although Jack is presumed dead, he managed to destroy two Navy ships. Despite Doflamingo’s incarceration in Impel Down Level 6, Tsuru denies his request for newspapers. In Zou, it’s revealed that Jack left Zou early to save the Minks after Doflamingo’s defeat. Kaido acknowledges Jack’s mission failure to retrieve Doflamingo. In Impel Down, Doflamingo is isolated in Level 6, speculating about potential assassins sent from Mary Geoise to silence him for knowing the holy land’s secret.
Doflamingo, always smiling, reflects on the transient nature of power and expresses a desire for people to know the truth. Post-Levely events, he acquires a newspaper in Impel Down, eagerly catching up on significant world events. Doflamingo is alive and imprisoned in Impel Down, last seen during the Wano Country Arc, indicating his current well-being in the story.
