Eiichiro Oda’s One Piece is an amazing series, not just because it really is awesome, but also because it’s now a piece of history. Monkey D. Luffy and his gang of Straw Hat Pirates have traveled the world and been on many adventures, fighting and defeating numerous villains along the way. These villains are going to be the focus of this article, as we have decided to rank the 20 most powerful One Piece villains by strength. Enjoy!
20. Don Krieg
As a captain, he has complete control over all of his subordinates. He was considered (in military strength) the most powerful and feared pirate in the East Blue. Even though Arlong’s bounty was higher than his, the Marines considered him a great threat due to his huge fleet of fifty ships and 5,000 men and the constant pillaging of him. Although this is not entirely true, because according to what Luffy said, the Krieg fleet was not as powerful as he said and that they only used a few to scare their opponents.
Being one of the “Disasters” of the Beasts Pirates, Queen has great authority in the crew, second only to Kaidou. Possessing the rank of “headliner”, Queen is one of the most powerful members of the crew, symbolizing his threat to the World Government with his bounty of 1,320,000,000 Berrys. He oversees the assassins in the Beasts Pirates service, as Kyoshiro recommended contacting him when they attacked his comrades. Queen also possesses a strong will, as he was able to stay conscious after Luffy used Haoshoku Haki.
Queen consumed the Ryu Ryu no Mi, Model: Brachiosaurus, a prehistoric Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allows her to turn into a brachiosaurus. When he is fully transformed, Queen becomes much larger and his size surpasses even Big Mom, who is over eight meters tall. He can use the characteristic long neck of brachiosaurs in combat, mainly using it to hit distant targets. Also, his body weight is drastically increased and he can use it to his advantage, as very few opponents can withstand the pressure of his huge transformed body being slammed into them.
18. Bartholomew Kuma
Kuma is one of the few people to have defeated the entire Straw Hat Pirates, and is also the only character introduced so far who has single-handedly defeated the crew, twice. However, the crew was extremely weak each time and they were in no condition to fight again, let alone a Warlord of the Sea (when they first encountered the crew had just finished a fight against a Warlord of the Sea, Gecko Moria, as well as an island full of zombies and Odz, in the second encounter they had just battled a Pacifista while fending off a second attack, Kizaru and Sentomaru).
He doesn’t want the crew dead, however, as he allowed them to escape. Bartholomew Kuma was one of the Warlords of the Sea, a group that is one of the three great powers. Kuma is easily one of the most powerful characters to appear in the story. Among other things, he was able to defeat the Straw Hat Pirates twice. Kuma also had very quick reflexes, as he managed to deflect one of Luffy’s Gear Second attacks with ease.
King was able to withstand several heavy blows from Marco as he exited without much apparent damage, he also proved his combat skills by showing great agility and speed against Zoro, who he actually overwhelmingly overwhelmed. attacks, sending him almost permanently out of the skull so away from the war, and he demonstrates this with his ability to cover a great distance in an instant. True to his epithet “King the Fire”, King is able to create flames.
As one of the last representatives of the Lunarian people, King indeed has the ability to create fire with his body. He uses this skill, in particular, to increase his melee attack power, by giving a fiery punch for example or by firing projectiles, as he did in his pteranodon form, even being able to create powerful and wide fire attacks, taking the form of dragons.
16. Charlotte Katakuri
Charlotte Katakuri is Big Mom’s second child as well as the Minister of Flour and one of the three Sweets Generals; a bounty of 1,057,000,000 Berries hangs over her head. According to Brulee, not only has he never been defeated but he has never even been knocked down.
He has a very wide mouth full of fangs that he always keeps hidden by a scarf and that he only discovers when he has to eat: in these moments he isolates himself completely, killing anyone who sees him even if only by mistake.
Cold and solitary, in public he shows a very calm and refined attitude while in private he reveals himself as greedy without any restraint as much as Big Mom; despite this, he has a great sense of loyalty and honor towards opponents he deems worthy of merit.
Arlong is a fish-man, a massive humanoid that is taller and stronger than any normal human. Arlong, however, is a very big one, even among fish-men. His power was said to be greater than Don Krieg, the strongest pirate in the East Blue.
As a Fish-Man, he is ten times stronger than an ordinary human and even stronger underwater. However, he appears to possess Super-Strength even by Fish-Man standards: he was seen raising a house with his bare hands in search of Usopp, and his powerful shark jaws are capable of bending metal, crushing stone, and ripping through the surface of the meat.
He also has incredible resistance to pain: during his fight with Luffy, he knocked out many sets of his teeth, which quickly grew back, and put his broken nose back in its place without a wince. Arlong can also go into some kind of berserker mode when he gets angry. When this happens, his eyes take on an appearance similar to those of the Sea Kings. While he is in this state, both his strength and speed grow exponentially, making him much more dangerous than he already is.
14. Kurozumi Orochi
As a shogun, Orochi had complete control over Wano Country and its inhabitants. He had government officials working under him and enforcing his laws, and he also had the backing of Kaidou, one of the Four Emperors. Therefore, if he or any of his subordinates were threatened, Kaidou would find out quickly and deal with the threat. He believed that, with Kaidou’s support, neither the World Government nor the World Nobles could bring down his regime.
Orochi ate the Hebi Hebi no Mi, model Yamata-no-Orochi, a mythical Zoan-type Devil Fruit that allowed him to partially or fully transform into the mythical eight-headed serpent Yamata-no-Orochi. These seemed to be able to vary in size and length, looking like during the meeting with the CP0 they were no bigger than his body and the next time he used them, they exceeded several times that size. In this form, he had the ability to attack in multiple directions with considerably strong jaws.
13. Gecko Moria
Gecko Moria was a Sea Warrior, as well as one of the most experienced pirates in the entire Grand Line. Physically, he was able to get up for about ten minutes after a Gomu Gomu no Pistol and a Gomu Gomu no Storm from Nightmare Luffy knocked Oars off his feet. Also, he didn’t seem to be damaged when Nami’s thunder attack hit Oars. Due to his size, he can easily carry a normal human with one hand.
He was back on his feet and still fighting after a full-power impact from Jinbe (although the blow knocked him out of the battle for a while). Moria is also shown to be smart and strategic, showing interest in schemes on multiple occasions. Often, he plans for the future with his zombies, putting certain shadows on certain bodies and modifying the bodies to suit whatever his purpose is, given the circumstances.
12. Hody Jones
Being a fish-man, he is ten times stronger than an average human being and twice as strong in the water. However, his strength is monstrous even by fish-man standards: he can completely destroy a huge stone wall just by grabbing it, and he can launch drops of water with such force that they hit like deadly bullets. Usopp pointed out that Arlong was nothing compared to Jones. Camie mentions to Nami that Jones’s mind is more dangerous than his strength.
In the anime, he fought against Zoro underwater, making him suffer, so he was able to fight at a level similar to that of the swordsman (although being underwater, he could not fight at his highest level). However, in the manga, he was defeated in a single attack and with no apparent difficulty by the member of the Straw Hat Pirates.
During his time in the Neptune Army, he was recognized as a particularly talented soldier. As such, he gained knowledge and experience in combat techniques on the battlefield.
As the warden of Impel Down, Magellan had full control of the prison. However, after the time skip, Hannyabal became headmaster, and Magellan was demoted to vice-headmaster. According to Mr. 2, Magellan is known to silence even the most dangerous prisoners. Indeed, all the prisoners are afraid of him. Even two former Corsair Captains, Crocodile, and Jinbe worried about Magellan’s near arrival during their escape.
Despite his demotion, he is still considered Impel Down’s most reliable and strong man. However, he spends most of his time in the bathroom due to his constant diarrhea. Added to the fact that he sleeps about eight hours a day (and discounting meals and breaks), he only works out about four hours a day. Nonetheless, he possesses both the authority and ability to execute any of the prisoners in Impel Down as he sees fit.
Magellan, despite being occupied with severe diarrhea for 10 hours a day and sleeping for 8 hours, is still able to easily coordinate the Impel Down defense squads in the event of a potential break-in or if the prisoners try to escape while being fully aware of all the mechanisms and traps of the prison.
10. Rob Lucci
Lucci is always accompanied by his faithful Hattori, who never leaves him, except when he fights. Upon breaking into Franky’s base, he shows the photo to Hatori. Being the strongest agent of all CP9, at 13, he was already endowed with superhuman strength when on his first mission, he eliminated 500 soldiers and took five cannonballs, which earned him the nickname of the cruelest executioner in CP9 history. His reputation is such that Vice Admirals believe he can even survive a Buster Call, the Navy’s most powerful attack.
Many soldiers consider him as a living legend feared by all and very powerful. He demonstrates this in his first fight against Luffy and when he easily sweeps Zoro away. During his operations or fights, even the Vice-Admirals do not try to intervene to help him. On the contrary, they even go so far as to destroy buildings to eliminate the enemy, claiming that Lucci will survive it.
He also has a good analytical mind since, after several exchanges with Luffy during his second fight, he understands that his Gear 2 is a doping technique that makes him more powerful but which weakens his body. Lucci’s physical stamina is absolutely outstanding: during his fight against Luffy, he will suffer a huge amount of damage that does not prevent him from wanting to face the entire Straw Hat Pirates.
9. Borsalino / Kizaru
As Admiral of the Marines, Borsalino has complete authority over all soldiers below him and has the ability to summon a Buster Call in any territory he sees fit, as well as remove any Sea Warlord from office. According to his position, his leadership capacity is superlative, as could be seen during the Great War.
Being an Admiral, Borsalino is considered one of the three most powerful individual fighters in the Government and the Marines and his mere presence was enough to cause a great panic among the pirates on the Sabaody Archipelago, including the eleven Super Rookies.
There, he defeated five of the eleven and, in the Great War, was able to get away with it after facing notable figures of piracy such as Marco or Whitebeard himself, to whom he caused great problems. Already as vice admiral he stood out in strength, being able to defeat Arlong quickly and effortlessly.
Sir Crocodile is the main antagonist of the Alabasta arc and has appeared as the main antagonist of the eighth film as well. He has very high self-esteem and believes very much in his own strength, which always leads him to treat anyone from top to bottom; he hardly loses his temper and always shows great intelligence and attention in every aspect of his plans, making sure that they can be successful even if they do not go as he had foreseen.
Crocodile has ingested the Rogia Sand Sand fruit, which allows it to turn into sand and make itself intangible to anything but liquids; the fruit also allows it to create storms and blades of sand and to dry up everything it touches by absorbing the liquid part. Instead of his left hand, Crocodile has a large golden hook that hides a powerful poison capable of causing the opponent to suffer heart failure. Before joining the Fleet of Seven, a bounty of 81 million Berries hung on his head.
7. Kuzan / Aokiji
As Admiral of the Marines, Kuzan had complete authority over all soldiers below him and had the ability to call a Buster Call in any territory he saw fit and to remove any warlord from office. His capabilities are such that Sengoku personally suggested him to the Commander-in-Chief of the Government to become the next admiral of the fleet.
Upon resigning from the Marines, however, he lost all his privileges and influence. Having been an admiral, Kuzan was considered one of the three strongest individual fighters in the Government and the Marines.
He was shown to be capable of combat with notable figures of piracy such as Jozu, commander of the third division of the Whitebeard Pirates, whom he came to defeat by an oversight; Doflamingo, who decided to avoid direct combat with the former admiral; and even Whitebeard himself. Before the timeskip, he was able to easily defeat Luffy and the other Straw Hat Pirates by himself. Apparently, he has a great ability to stealth; him being able to appear in front of Doflamingo without him noticing his presence.
Being the “God” of Skypiea, Enel had full control of the island, thanks in particular to his Mantra. He took this title too seriously. Enel is extremely powerful, and gives the impression of being weaker than many others due to Luffy being naturally immune to Goro Goro no Mi’s powers. Enel’s strength was demonstrated when he defeated Robin, Gan Forr, Wiperm, and Zoro easily and very quickly, without his opponents having had time to do anything.
Enel has great knowledge and awareness of items that many locals don’t, including the value of gold and its properties. This awareness allows him to keep these elements to himself. However, before Luffy arrived, he was unaware of the rubber’s existence.
He is also very perceptive and has an amazing ability to adapt. Despite his confidence, Enel’s prediction that the Survival Game would end with himself and four others turned out to be wrong, as he didn’t feel Luffy in Nola’s belly, but eliminated the ancient god, Gan Forr thinking to restore his prediction.
5. Donquixote Doflamingo
Donquixote Doflamingo, is the main antagonist of the arc of Dressrosa. Nicknamed “Heavenly Demon”, he is the captain of the Donquixote clan and the king of Dressrosa.
One of the most politically and economically influential men in the world, he has long led the slave trade in the Sabaody Islands and is the leader of numerous criminal activities in the New World, acting under the pseudonym of Joker; furthermore, being aware of a secret concerning the celestial dragons, his authority can override even that of the grand admiral of the navy.
Doflamingo is a very cynical, ruthless, and indifferent individual and believes in the advent of a new era of piracy, in which there is no more room for dreamers and idealists. Doflamingo ingested the Paramisha Filo Filo fruit, which allows him to create threads from his hands and use them at will.
Thanks to them he can control a subject and move it like a puppet, he can use them to attack and cut, he can introduce them inside his body to repair damaged organs and, having awakened his fruit, transform the surrounding objects into threads to be manipulated.
4. Sakazuki / Akainu
Among the most prominent figures in the New World, Sakazuki is known for his malice and unscrupulousness, striking fear into the heart of any pirate. After Van Augur, after the Summit War, identified Sakazuki aboard a pirate ship to negotiate, Blackbeard decided to immediately escape knowing the consequences of fighting him even after having acquired the powers of the Gura Gura no Mi, and having strengthened his crew with some of the most dangerous criminals in the world.
In addition to his enormous physical abilities, Sakazuki stands out as a highly-skilled manipulator who uses his great gifts of rhetoric and persuasion to trick his opponents into doing what he wants.
Thus, for example, he feigned sympathy for Squard and used his hatred of the late Pirate King to influence him and betray his loyalty to Whitebeard. He also used Ace’s devotion to his captain to his advantage, managing to provoke the commander by simply insulting Newgate and getting his much-coveted head right away.
Sakazuki consumed the Magu Magu no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that grants him the ability to transform his body into magma and manipulate it at will. Within fire abilities, Sakazuki’s seems to be at a higher level, as demonstrated by burning Ace and overcoming the fire of his Mera Mera. The destructive heat and explosive powers of the magma allow Sakazuki to cause massive damage and even radically change the climate of the place where his abilities are unleashed at their fullest, as happened at Punk Hazard after his duel with Kuzan.
3. Marshall D. Teach / Blackbeard
Blackbeard is a powerful man even before he possessed his Devil Fruit abilities. Indeed, he managed to injure Shanks, one of the Four Emperors, leaving him with three scars on the face at the level of the left eye. He is also endowed with great physical resistance, as he held on after taking several point-blank attacks from a Logia-like Ace.
Blackbeard considers himself “The Most Powerful Man on Earth” after gaining the power of the Gura Gura no Mi. He ate the Yami Yami no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit. This fruit allows becoming, mastering darkness, and absorbing anything the user wishes. It is a very powerful fruit that allows you to cancel the power of another Devil Fruit, a bit like Sea Granite.
He can lure any Devil Fruit possessor with a vortex, allowing him to hit them even if the enemy fruit is a Logia type. We, therefore, understand why Shanks, one of the Four Emperors, came to see Whitebeard to tell him that Ace should not go looking for Blackbeard. After the events of Impel Down, Blackbeard goes to Marine Ford and finishes off Whitebeard, already badly injured.
After killing Whitebeard, he hides himself and Whitebeard’s body under a sheet. He emerges with the power of tremor, making him the holder of two Devil Fruit powers, a fact that was described as impossible. How he went about stealing it is still unknown, nor do we know how Teach can handle these two powers. According to Marco, this is due to a particular and abnormal structure of his body.
2. Charlotte Linlin
As expected of someone who was one of the Four Emperors, Big Mom is one of the most powerful and influential pirates in the world. The Five Elders mentioned that she is one of the few people capable of stopping Blackbeard. Even the Straw Hat Pirates recognized that they could be quickly crushed if they recklessly fight her. She is called by Kaidou’s subordinates the “strongest woman in the world”.
Through her strength and influence, Linlin has managed to gather a very powerful crew made up of allies of international relevance, such as Capone Bege, a member of the Worst Generation, or Jinbe, a former Warlord of the Sea. She also has considerable influence within the Underworld, having significant ties to some of her emperors or members of Germa 66. Those who marry her children automatically become members of her crew.
She is known for being able to destroy entire countries for candy, even intimidating her own subordinates, such as Pekoms and Tamago, who expressed great fear when speaking to her in irritation. In fact, the vast majority of her subordinates and children have been shown to fear her mother. Ironically, this fear makes Big Mom more powerful due to the nature of her Devil Fruit powers.
Big Mom has enormous influence in the New World, keeping a large number of territories under her protection similar to Edward Newgate. Her influence in her world allows her to gather information about people who are of interest to her based on threats and demands. It is said that even demons would attend her tea parties if invited. It is unknown if she still has the same influence or if she still holds the same territories after being defeated.
Prior to the conflict at Marineford, Kaidou tried to take Whitebeard’s life, something few would dare to do, though he eventually confronted Shanks. When Gecko Moria was at his best, Kaidou fought him and emerged victorious, laying waste to his entire crew in the process. The Five Elders mentioned that Kaidou is one of the few people capable of stopping Blackbeard.
Trafalgar Law stated that Kaidou could easily assassinate Donquixote Doflamingo, a world-famous and extremely powerful pirate. Law also speculated that even with an alliance with the Straw Hats, his chances of overthrowing the Emperor were reduced to 30%. This statement may, however, be questionable, as at that time Law was not raising a real and open conflict with Kaidou.
The Emperor was able to defeat another member of “The Worst Generation”: Eustass Kid with apparent ease. and refused to take Luffy and Law’s alliance seriously regardless of his achievements, taking the defeat of a Sea Warrior as minor and of no real importance to him. Kaidou then defeated Luffy himself effortlessly, knocking him unconscious in a single blow.
Kaidou can also go toe-to-toe with Big Mom of the Four Emperors, as evidenced by the force of their clash, which was strong enough to split the sky in two, similar to the clash between Whitebeard and Shanks, and fight her for two days without sustaining injury. Like the rest of the Emperors, Kaidou has under his command a vast number of subordinates and other pirates allied with him, such as X Drake or Scratchmen Apoo. With Caesar Clown and Doflamingo as his partners, Kaidou managed to create an army of over five hundred artificial Zoan Devil Fruit users, the Gifters.
