Is Halle Berry Hinting at a Return as Storm in the MCU’s X-Men Reboot? It Looks Likely

With the release of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ Kevin Feige announced that the era of mutants is beginning in the MCU. Although mutants and the X-Men have received little mention in the cinematic universe so far, we know that significant plans are in motion for some of Marvel Comics’ most iconic characters.

Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Michael Lesslie is currently writing the script for the upcoming X-Men live-action reboot, which aims to integrate the team into the broader MCU continuity.

According to recent insider reports, Michael Lesslie has apparently pitched the roster from ‘X-Men ’97’ for the upcoming MCU movie. This suggests the reboot could feature a team lineup including Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Professor X, Morph, Bishop, Magneto, Nightcrawler, and Sunspot.

While no casting details have been confirmed yet, many fans speculate that the mutants will be entirely recast with a younger lineup. However, there is reason to believe at least one character might not be recast: Storm, played by Halle Berry. Berry portrayed Storm for over a decade, beginning with ‘X-Men’ in 2000 and ending with ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ in 2014.

Recently, the actress spoke with Josh Wildling about the possibility of reprising her role in the MCU, primarily in ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars.’

Josh: We didn’t see you in ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ but it looks like the X-Men could be in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ or ‘Secret Wars,’ so do you see a Storm brewing for those movies perhaps?

Berry: You never know! We’ll find out!

Josh Wildling was right in noting that Berry expressed a strong interest in reprising her role in the latest MCU film. However, despite her enthusiasm and even speaking with Blake Lively about it, she has not been approached by Ryan Reynolds.
