Over a year ago, James Gunn and Peter Safran assumed roles as Co-Producers and Co-CEOs of DC Studios, unveiling a slate of movies that included the new live-action film ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.’

Based on the comic series by Tom King, ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ ran as a limited series from 2021 to 2022, portraying Supergirl in a darker narrative than usual. Stranded on a drifting fragment of Krypton during its destruction, Supergirl endured a harsh environment and significant mental trauma, having witnessed the death of everyone she loved.

Details on the cast are sparse, but it’s confirmed that Milly Alcock will play Supergirl, and Sean Gunn is slated to portray Maxwell Lord. Recent reports from industry insider Daniel Richtman strongly suggest that Jason Momoa is in talks to join the movie as Lobo.

Rumors of Momoa taking on the role of Lobo have been circulating since the early days of the DCU. Following the conclusion of Aquaman’s latest adventure in ‘Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom,’ Momoa himself expressed interest in joining Gunn’s new universe as Lobo.

Fans had varied reactions to this “announcement,” with some disappointed that Momoa transitioned from an A-lister to a D-list character so swiftly. However, there’s widespread agreement that the actor, known for his role in Game of Thrones, would be an ideal fit for the role.

The film is scheduled to be released on June 26, 2025, with filming expected to start in late 2024.
