Jake Schreier Hints at a Link Between ‘Thunderbolts*’ and ‘Avengers: Doomsday’
The upcoming Marvel movie Thunderbolts* is set to hit theaters in 2 weeks and fans are already wondering how it will connect to Avengers: Doomsday. While not much has been revealed, director Jake Schreier recently hinted that one powerful character could be the link between the two films.
In a new interview, Schreier was asked if Thunderbolts* would tie into Avengers: Doomsday. He didn’t give a clear answer but teased fans with a mysterious clue:
“There might be some stones, or pebbles [smiles]. I don’t know how you want to rate your rocks. Look, you know the character that we’re talking about, and you know that there’s a level of power involved there that could have an impact going forward. I’m not making Doomsday so I’m not privy to that.”
He didn’t name the character, but he’s clearly talking about Sentry, or maybe his dark side, the Void. Actor Lewis Pullman will play this powerful hero in Thunderbolts, and it’s possible his strength could play a big role in Avengers: Doomsday.
If you’re familiar with the character in the comics, you know that Sentry’s powers almost surpass what the Infinity Stones were capable of in the MCU, and his Void persona is even worse.
Sentry is also notably mentally unstable, which leads to some horrific storylines and makes him difficult to deal with in pretty much every aspect.
Some fans even wonder if Doctor Doom might try to control Sentry and use his powers against the Avengers.
Thunderbolts* is one of two Marvel movies set to release before Avengers: Doomsday. The other is The Fantastic Four: First Steps. Both films are expected to help set up the events of the big crossover movie.
Even though the main goal is to make Thunderbolts* a great film on its own, the idea that it could help lead into Doomsday is exciting for fans.
