James Gunn Faces Fan Criticism Over Making the Same ‘Superman’ Mistake as Zack Snyder

Fans heavily criticized Snyder’s approach to the DCEU, as he infused a darker tone into the characters and altered key qualities.

“Batman V Superman” faced similar backlash for cramming numerous major characters into one film, resulting in a crowded narrative with pacing issues, a convoluted plot, and inadequate character development.

Gunn is now tasked with revitalizing the DC cinematic universe, now known as the DCU post-reboot, with his first live-action project, ‘Superman,’ slated for release in 2025. However, even over a year ahead of the movie’s debut, the director faces regular criticism on social media. The latest accusation against him is gaining traction and appears to have some merit.

In ‘Superman,’ Gunn intends to introduce four Justice League members alongside Corenswet as Clark Kent and Brosnahan’s Lois Lane: Guy Gardner (played by Nathan Fillion), Hawkgirl (played by Isabela Merced), Mister Terrific (played by Edi Gathegi), and Metamorpho (played by Anthony Carrigan). Additionally, Gunn plans to feature Milly Alcock as Supergirl and include members of The Authority, with María Gabriela de Faría portraying Angela Spica, also known as The Engineer.

Does it seem overcrowded? Absolutely. Predictably, fans took to social media to criticize both the director and those who are now silent, despite having raised significant objections when Snyder did something similar with ‘Batman v Superman.’

Whether you perceive the lineup as hastily assembled or not, one can’t help but question how effectively Gunn can handle such a multitude of characters within the confines of a single film. Got any thoughts to share? Drop them in the comments below!
