James Gunn Has Secured Over 90% of the Cast for ‘Superman: Legacy’
With the conclusion of the DCEU through the release of ‘Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,’ the DCU is now stepping into the spotlight. James Gunn’s upcoming movie, ‘Superman: Legacy,’ is poised to be a soft reboot, indicating a fresh direction for DC characters under his guidance. Gunn, known for keeping fans informed through social media updates, recently addressed questions about the film’s progress via Threads.
According to Gunn, the development of ‘Superman: Legacy’ is proceeding smoothly, with sets under construction, costumes finalized, and actors settling into their roles. When asked about the locked-in cast for the movie, Gunn provided a somewhat vague response, stating that it exceeds 90% but falls short of 100%. This implies that while a significant portion of the cast is confirmed, not every character has an assigned actor, inevitably sparking further speculation and rumors.
Gunn also clarified that the costumes will be completed before the shooting begins. With filming now rescheduled to March 2024 due to SAG-AFTRA strikes, it is anticipated that the initial wave of “rumors” and “leaks” will surface in over two months.
As for the main cast, it currently features David Corenswet as Clark Kent/Superman, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, and Isabela Merced in the role of Hawkgirl. Edi Gathegi will portray Michael Holt/Mister Terrific, while Nathan Fillion takes on the character of Guy Gardner/Green Lantern. Anthony Carrigan is cast as Rex Mason/Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as Angela Spica/Engineer, and Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor. Sara Sampaio is set to depict Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and Sean Gunn in a role yet to be confirmed.
