James Gunn Says Half That Viral ‘Man Of Tomorrow’ Cast List Might Be Fake
Anticipation for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ has been building for months, and it shows no signs of slowing down. The film serves as James Gunn’s follow-up to 2025’s ‘Superman,’ and it has been steadily assembling one of the more stacked ensembles in recent DC history. This is not the first time Gunn has pushed back on casting chatter for the project. He has repeatedly stepped in throughout the film’s development to clarify or outright debunk reports circulating about who is joining the cast. Earlier this year, he even called out a Deadline report claiming multiple actresses had screen tested for the villain role of Maxima, dismissing the story as shoddy and incorrect reporting, as one outlet detailed in its coverage of the dispute.
Despite the correction, a solid core of casting news has come straight from Gunn himself. David Corenswet is confirmed to return as Clark Kent, once again working alongside Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor as the two form an uneasy alliance against a much bigger threat. Lars Eidinger has been confirmed as that threat, playing Brainiac, while Rachel Brosnahan returns as Lois Lane and Nathan Fillion is back as Guy Gardner ahead of his role in HBO’s ‘Lanterns.’
Milly Alcock is also set to reprise her ‘Supergirl’ role as Kara Zor El, bringing the Kryptonian cousins together on screen once more. Gunn has previously described the sequel as being just as much a Lex Luthor story as it is a Superman one, with the pair forced to work together against a threat neither can handle alone. ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is currently set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027, following the first film’s $618.7 million worldwide haul and Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes.
