James Gunn Will Stick To DCTV After Completing Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

We have already written this numerous times before, but James Gunn is really a known name among both Marvel and DC fans. The writer and director of DC project The Suicide Squad, Peacemaker, and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, is currently working on the third installment of the mentioned Marvel franchise, which is set to be his last project at Marvel. Meanwhile, his DC series Peacemaker recently aired its Season 1 finale and HBOMax renewed the series for the second season, on which Gunn will start working as soon as he finishes Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. From one comic book house to another.

Gunn now revealed what are his current plans. He revealed that once he finishes the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie, which is expected to be something like Guardians of the Galaxy: Endgame if you know what I mean, he’s going to start working on the second season of Peacemaker and one more DC series he already mentioned he’s developing, although he’s still refusing to reveal what that other series will be about. It is expected to be another spin-off centered on some other character from The Suicide Squad. We’d love to see Idris Elba’s Bloodsport, but knowing Gunn, it wouldn’t surprise us if turns out to be Weasel, or someone even weirder.

“I think I pretty much have decided that after I’m done with Guardians, I’m going to be doing television for at least a year. My mind’s made up on that. Not all the shows that we’re dealing with are things that I’m going to be writing and directing, so some of them may take different amounts of my time. Peacemaker is going to be me writing, me directing, and spending all my time on set. But other shows that may not be writing and directing or not directing all the episodes.” — James Gunn for Variety

Gunn also opened up about Peacemaker being renewed for the second season:

John [Cena] and I did not agree to a second season off the bat because we wanted to make sure this is something we really love doing that we really wanted. That’s why it’s being announced now, because we had to work everything out. I didn’t agree to a second season just off the bat, it wasn’t a matter of like, okay, we’re picked up. It’s a matter of I just wanted to make sure it was really something I wanted to do.

Still, he didn’t want to reveal what’s that other DC show he’s developing:

“Yeah, that’s advanced a lot. Hopefully, in not too long, people will know more about that. It’s not 100%. But we’ve been working heavily on it. So that would be something that would happen in addition to “Peacemaker” Season 2.”

The so-called Gunnverse is set to expand even more across the world of DC, and after Peacemaker’s finale, we cannot wait to see what Gunn prepared for us next.
