The Star Wars franchise is bustling with upcoming projects, including anticipated releases like ‘Star Wars: The Acolyte’ and ‘Star Wars: Skeleton Crew’ slated for this year. Alongside the series, there are also a few movies in development, including one helmed by James Mangold.

Details about Mangold’s Star Wars project have been scarce, but according to a recent report by SFX Magazine, the film is rumored to be titled “Star Wars: Jedi Prime.” While not officially confirmed, the credibility of the source suggests this information is highly reliable.

Following Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm, James Mangold initially signed on to direct a Boba Fett film inspired by Sergio Leone, which later transformed into the series “The Book of Boba Fett.” Subsequently, Mangold was enlisted to direct and co-write the final installment of the Indiana Jones series, titled “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.”

During Celebration Europe on April 7, 2023, it was officially announced that Mangold would helm a Star Wars film delving into the origins of the Jedi. Titled “Dawn of the Jedi,” the film is set to explore the inception and discovery of The Force, with Mangold aiming for an epic cinematic experience akin to “The Ten Commandments” and “Ben-Hur.” Mangold successfully utilized references to these classic films to persuade Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy of the project’s potential.

I thought about a biblical epic, like a Ten Commandments and the dawning of the Force. Where did the Force come from? When did we discover it? When did we know how to use it? And a story just started developing.

The film is set in the era of 25,000 BBY, and beyond the setting, details remain scarce, including the title. The current working title, ‘Dawn of the Jedi,’ may undergo changes. What are your thoughts? Share in the comments section below!
