Jeremy Renner Offers A Coy Answer About His MCU Future
Yeah, expect a lot of Hawkeye and No Way Home articles from us in the near future.
Although he’s been playing Clint Barton/Hawkeye for a decade now, Jeremy Renner had to wait until now to get his own solo adventure. Renner debuted in the 2011 movie Thor and reprised the role in The Avengers, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Captain America: Civil War, and Avengers: Endgame. Although his character already tried to retire twice, every time he retires for, like, five minutes and it all goes to s**t.
Now, it’s time for Clint Barton to get a solo adventure in the Disney+ TV show Hawkeye. Renner will star alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Barton’s protégé and successor of Hawkeye’s bow and arrow. Although it’s expected that the show will bring closure for Barton, and set up a long MCU future for Bishop, Barton still remains coy about if he’s gonna play Clint Barton after the show airs its six episodes.
“I don’t have a crystal ball, or I’m not a soothsayer. But having Hailee come in, and these characters, I think it opens it up for six great episodes for this event type of television. After that, I have no idea. But these six episodes are pretty exciting.”

Hailee Steinfeld recently shared that she’s excited not only for the show but for everything that’s about to come for her in the MCU, although it’s unknown at the time what plans Marvel has for Kate Bishop as the new Hawkeye.
“All of these roles have been fairly small. And then Ultron, we got a little more. And then he just starts stealing all of these scenes. But it was always the intention to explore much more. The character’s history is vast. And also, the Matt Fraction comics, which I am sure people have been spending a lot of time talking about, was a big tonal inspiration for us. And seeing that and this new dynamic.”
