‘The Acolyte’ is an upcoming TV series within the expansive Star Wars universe, crafted by Leslye Headland. Positioned at the conclusion of the High Republic era, predating the events of the core Star Wars films, the show features Amandla Stenberg and Lee Jung-jae in pivotal roles. Headland’s fascination with the Star Wars saga sparked in 2019, leading to the series’ development under Lucasfilm starting in April 2020.

Announced in December, filming unfolded from October 2022 to June 2023. With its premiere slated for June 4, 2024, on Disney+, anticipation mounts as we approach the release date. However, early reactions on social media are decidedly mixed.

Some of the creator’s statements, as well as what has been revealed through trailers, clips, and set photos, haven’t exactly ignited enthusiasm among fans for the show. While some are urging fellow fans to reserve judgment until after watching the first two episodes, others are advocating for a complete boycott, viewing the show as another instance of Disney, and by extension, Lucasfilm, embracing what they perceive as excessive “wokeness.”

So, where does Jimmy Kimmel come into play? The popular comedian didn’t miss the chance to both preview and poke fun at the show. During the Disney Upfront event, Kimmel seized the opportunity to mock the show’s setting. Despite ‘The Acolyte’ team’s emphasis on the High Republic era as the show’s focal point and primary selling feature, it appears that not everyone shares the same level of excitement for it.

We’ve got the most highly anticipated shows with ‘The Acolyte,’ about a Jedi investigating crimes. he show is set during the High Republic era of the Star Wars timeline, which means it takes place before the ‘Phantom Menace’ and after I stopped giving a shit.

We’re certain that Kimmel intended his remark as nothing more than a lighthearted jest, but it’s regrettable that so many fans on social media seem to share his sentiment.

‘The Acolyte’ is scheduled to premiere on Disney+ on June 4, 2024, unveiling its first two episodes. Subsequently, the remaining six episodes will be released weekly. Do you have anything to contribute? Share your thoughts in the comments section below!
