‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Unveils New Trailer Featuring an Unseen Side of the Joker
The DCU may still be some time away from fully launching, but Matt Reeves’ Elseworlds label is forging ahead with the upcoming Joker: Folie à Deux. This sequel to the 2019 Joker will see Joaquin Phoenix reprise his role as the Joker, with Lady Gaga joining the cast as Harley Quinn.
After murdering Murray Franklin on live TV, Arthur Fleck is confined to Arkham State Hospital, where he falls in love with Harleen Quinzel. Together, they dive into musical delusions, while Fleck’s followers start a movement to free him, ultimately leading to the emergence of the Clown Prince of Crime’s criminal empire.
Today, the movie dropped a new trailer offering a glimpse into a uniquely bizarre and unforgettable Joker experience:
Folie à Deux is characterized as a drama set in and around Arkham Asylum, though official plot details remain unconfirmed. The cast features Joaquin Phoenix, Lady Gaga, Zazie Beetz, Catherine Keener, and Brendan Gleeson, with the screenplay co-written by Todd Phillips and Scott Silver.
Joker: Folie à Deux is scheduled to premiere in the United States on October 4, 2024, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.
