  • Suguru Geto was, alongside Gojo, one of the most powerful sorcerers of his generation, and while he was not above Gojo’s level of skill, he was nevertheless a powerful sorcerer.
  • Officially, it is unknown whether Suguru Geto had a Domain Expansion, but based on his level of skill and his mastery over cursed energy, it is likely that he had one, but Akutami never revealed it.

A Domain is something that only the most powerful characters can use

Before we actually tell you more about Geto, allow us to reveal some details about the Domain Expansion technique. This is a very important part of the Jujutsu Kaisen lore and a lot of fans have actually heard of it, but since it’s not really that commonly present in the series, they don’t actually know what it represents. That is why we have decided to explain it before continuing with the issue of Geto’s potential Domain.

In the world of Jujutsu Kaisen, a Domain Expansion is a special and powerful technique that enables users to materialize their intrinsic domain by utilizing cursed energy to create an environment within the zone they have established by casting a barrier to make it distinct from the rest of the environment. Only very powerful and skilled Cursed Spirits and Jujutsu Sorcerers are able to use this technique. There are several benefits to employing a domain against enemies, even though it takes a lot of cursed energy to materialize one.

It seems that the activation of a Domain requires using a hand gesture or a symbol unique to the domain holder. A sphere of energy quickly envelops and traps the user and their opponent(s) when they use a Domain Expansion. Furthermore, although it is supposed to be very easy to access an enemy’s Domain from the outside, it is reported to be nearly impossible to leave it using normal means. The surroundings of a Domain augment the owner’s abilities, granting them access to newly acquired spells or improved versions of ones they have already mastered.

There are several types of Domains, as well as several variations present as part of the concept in general. We have Double and even Triple Domains, which demand the application of special rules when it comes to which Domain will triumph in this clash. We also have the all-or-nothing 0.2-second Domain Expansion, first used by Gojo and then by other characters as well. On top of that, we also have Unfinished Domains, which are ones without any spells attached to them.

As you can see, the technique is definitely complex and requires some explanations, which is why we decided to include this section. We can now move on to Geto.

Did Suguru Geto have a Domain? He was powerful enough, but the answer is unclear

It is rarely a grateful task to discuss unseen Domains in the series, as with Jujutsu Kaisen – you can never know. The situation is not as straightforward as in some other shonen works (e.g. Bleach or One Piece), where it is easier to predict something. When it comes to Jujutsu Kaisen and powerful characters, you can never know because the obvious answer may be the wrong one, as Akutami is really prone to surprising us, and he is also not a stranger to asspulls, so you can never know.

Now, as far as Suguru Geto is concerned, we know that he is one of the series’ most powerful characters, and in that aspect, there is absolutely no doubt that he was skilled enough to have a Domain Expansion. He also had a profound knowledge of the jujutsu society, so we assume that he was well-acquainted with the concept. So, did he have a Domain? Well, officially – a Domain belonging to Suguru Geto was never revealed, so as far as the canon is concerned – he did not have one.

Some fans really do hold this to be the truth. They think that Geto did not need one because of the specific Innate Technique he had, and they are quite certain that he would have used it against Yuta in Jujutsu Kaisen 0 had he been able to. And while this makes sense, we wouldn’t necessarily agree. Namely, it could be that Akutami simply did not have a good enough idea for Geto’s Domain, so he kept it hidden (e.g., as Kubo did with Aizen’s or Ukitake’s Bankai in Bleach – both of them can use it, but we’ve never seen them), which means that Geto was able to expand a Domain, but simply didn’t.

Geto certainly had the potential, and we wouldn’t be surprised if it turned out that he did, indeed, have a Domain, but we don’t have an official answer for you at this moment. As of the time of writing, Akutami has not specifically addressed this issue, but it is likely that Geto could expand a Domain.
