Jujutsu Kaisen is a series with many characters; some have been introduced earlier, while others have been introduced later. The Shibuya Incident gave us new characters on the side of the heroes and the villains. A character from the former group will be the focus of this article, as we have decided to tell you all you need to know about Arata Nitta. This new character appeared during Yuji’s fight with Mahito, connected to a character we already know. In this article, you will read Arata’s story from Jujutsu Kaisen.

  • Article Breakdown:
  • Arata Nitta, a secondary character in Jujutsu Kaisen, appeared briefly during Yuji’s fight against Mahito. He is a first-year student from Kyoto who appeared with Aoi Todo to help Yuji.
  • Arata is the younger brother of Akari Nitta, one of the auxiliary managers at Tokyo Jujutsu High, who was seen with Nobara in Shibuya. He, like his sister, specializes in being a coordinator.
  • He also has a special skill called Pain Killer, that enables him to stop injuries from getting worse, which he used to heal Yuji and Nobara, whom he then took away to safety.

Arata Nitta is Akari’s younger brother who goes to school in Kyoto

The moment we are talking about in this article is just before Mahito used the finishing blow on Itadori. But, at that moment, as Yuji was down and Mahito was about to deliver the final blow, Yuji was unexpectedly saved by Aoi Todo’s arrival.

Aoi teleported Mahito away from Yuji and decided to engage the Cursed Spirit himself, which was a major moment in that fight, but that will not be the focus of this article. Namely, we did not tell you before that Aoi did not arrive alone, as he was accompanied by a blonde-haired boy named Arata Nitta. Who is he?

Arata Nitta is a secondary character who appeared – so far – only during the Shibuya Incident Arc. He is Akari Nitta’s younger brother and a first-year student from Kyoto; if you remember, Akari Nitta was one of the coordinators working in Tokyo. Shigemo attacked her along with Nobara before being saved by Nanami. Arata Nitta also works as a coordinator in Kyoto, which is his specialty, and that is why he was with Aoi, as the two of them were looking for Yuji, Aoi’s bro.

As Aoi took over the fight against Mahito, he told Arata to use his ability to heal Yuji, and Arata did just that. We will explain Arata Nitta’s ability in detail in the next section, but we can now confirm that he did help Yuji fight once more. Yuji also revealed everything that had happened to him, which shocked the young boy. As he explained the effects of his technique to Yuji, he proceeded to help Nobara as well, and when he did that, he told Yuji he would take her to safety and then left the scene.

And that is his whole story. Akutami is known for not caring about his characters that much, so we don’t know what happened to the boy later, but as far as the known canon is concerned, Arata Nitta is still alive and well in the series; we just don’t know what he is doing right now.

His special ability, Pain Killer, is useful, but limited

As far as Arata’s role in the story is concerned, we see that he was more or less a healer and that his role stopped with him healing Yuji and taking care of Nobara by bringing her to safety. We also know that he is still a first-year student, so we assume he is still not as powerful as a character. But, his special ability, called Pain Killer, is, and we will give you a detailed set of information about that ability in this section, and with that, this article will end.

Pain Killer is a specific ability; while we don’t know much about it, we know enough to tell you about its effects. Pain Killer is a sort of medical ability, although it is not a true healing ability. As the name suggests, it kills all existing pain, like a pill that will stop the pain you currently have, but while it is powerful in that aspect, it also has some serious limits when its effectiveness is considered.

Namely, Pain Killer, for starters, is not a healing technique. It doesn’t heal wounds, although we did say that Arata healed Yuji, which is also technically true. It doesn’t make injuries go away, so it’s not similar to Shoko Ieiri’s healing abilities, although it does help.

Namely, Pain Killer’s primary aspect is that it stops existing injuries from worsening. So, in Yuji’s case, Arata used his skill to stop Yuji’s injuries from spreading, and he also stopped the bleeding while eliminating the pain. Yuji was still injured, but he could fight as if he wasn’t, which was good for him. This is also what he did to Nobara – he simply stopped the consequences of Mahito’s attack from spreading further but did not reverse it completely.

Another limitation is the temporal efficiency of the technique. Namely, Pain Killer will heal only those injuries that have existed at the time of the application. As Arata himself said, his technique won’t affect injuries sustained after the application, which is what he told Yuji before the latter went to help Aoi Todo fight against Mahito. And that is, more or less, Arata’s whole story.
