The third episode of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen has just aired, and we can confirm that Gojo’s Past Arc is slowly approaching its ending, and while there’s not much left before we return to the present timeline, there are still many important questions that need to be answered and one of them concerns the gang’s trip to Okinawa, where Riko had a bit of fun, which was a great thing since assassins were hunting her at the same time. So, while they were in Okinawa, Gojo, and Riko played together at the beach, and the two encountered a strange sea animal they played with. In this article, we will tell you what that sea animal was.

And if you thought there was some mystery to it, there isn’t – the sea animal is actually a regular old sea cucumber. These creatures are completely normal, and Gojo and Riko had fun playing with it, but there is no mystery there, nor is the animal special. This was simply a symbol of how much fun they had and how much they had bonded up to that point, despite all the troubles they faced.

The rest of this article will actually help you understand what happened at the beach in Okinawa, where Riko and Gojo played after saving Kuroi from her kidnappers. They used their free time to enjoy themselves a bit and help Riko relax, and the encounter with the sea cucumber was just a symbol of how much fun they had. Now, this article won’t reveal any major mysteries, but it will explain a very interesting and funny scene from a recent episode; oh, of course, if you haven’t seen the episode, we have to tell you that this article is going to be filled with spoilers from Episode 3, so be careful how you approach it.

The “strange sea animal” was just a regular old sea cucumber

So, the second episode of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen ended with Kuroi being kidnapped. The third episode started with Gojo, Geto, and Riko coming up with a plan to free her from her kidnappers, who were in Okinawa, so they went there, found the kidnappers, and Gojo easily beat the crap out of them while Riko freed her caretaker. With that, the mission was done, and Kuroi was safe.

Now, instead of returning to Tokyo, they decided to spend the day in Okinawa, at the beach, so that everyone could relax and have some fun.

Riko was particularly happy, as she and Gojo actually got a chance to bond while they were playing on the beach, and the two of them, despite their constant quarrels, had a lot of fun together. At the same time, Geto and Kuroi were discussing the whole situation, and Geto showed her an itinerary with this fun time on the beach, which meant that it was actually a part of the plan.

Now, while Gojo and Riko did nothing special, they encountered a strange animal that looked like a fat, brown sausage at one point. Gojo held it, and the two of them played with that creature, and after squeezing it, some tentacles came out of it. Since these kinds of sea creatures aren’t that common, many people might not have recognized this curious creature.

And while some of you might have thought that it was a curse or some other special creature from the Jujutsu Kaisen lore, we’ll have to disappoint you and tell you that there is actually no major mystery here. The sea creature is a regular sea animal that can be found worldwide and lives in the depths of the seas around the globe. Yes, it is a simple – sea cucumber!

Sea cucumbers (Latin: Holothuroidea) are creatures that live at the bottom of seas and oceans. They include about 500 species. They have an elongated sausage-like body that is 1–20 cm long, with calcareous plates of various shapes and tubular legs arranged in rows or scattered over the body.

Some species have separate sexes, and some are hermaphrodites. They reproduce sexually or asexually. Some species swim like jellyfish, while others are attached to the substrate.

Sea cucumbers live in most seas and oceans. They can be found in tropical regions and in polar regions. They live exclusively in water up to 100 meters deep. They feed on plankton and organic matter on the bottom of the sea. Because of this, they got the popular name “marine vacuum cleaner.” The digestive system begins with the mouth, followed by the muscular pharynx, short esophagus and stomach, and a long and multiple bent intestine. They collect food with oral tentacles.

When they are in danger, sea cucumbers throw out their entrails through their mouths. People are usually scared by this and throw them back into the sea. Their insides are then rebuilt and reconstructed.

This process is called evisceration. Namely, in many sea cucumbers, under conditions of stress, the front and back parts of the body tear apart, through which they expel the entire digestive system. At the same time, the connective tissue that connects the digestive tract to the body wall is torn. The expelled insides are regenerated, and it is believed that evisceration can also occur spontaneously to expel accumulated waste materials.

What did they ultimately do to it? Nothing, they saw the tentacles it let out after being squeezed, its insides, and after that, they probably threw it back into the sea, as most people do when they see a sea cucumber’s defensive mechanism.

Seeing how Riko was happy with the time they spent on the beach, Gojo decided that they should stay in Okinawa for an additional day, which allowed them to do some additional fun activities, after which they finally headed back to Tokyo via plane protected by Gojo from the inside and one of Geto’s curses from the outside.
