Toji Foshiguro, a supporting villain from the anime series who appeared in two arcs of the manga, debuted in Gojo’s Past Arc, which is currently being adapted for the second season of the anime series, and in which he is going to be the primary villain who will fight both Geto and Gojo (twice, even!). Toji Foshiguro is unique in many ways, and there certainly are numerous things related to him and his story that we could talk about, but this specific article is going to be dedicated to a habit of his that we’ve seen in Episode 2 of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen. Namely, in this article, you will find out whether Toji Fushiguro is a gambler.

Toji Fushiguro is a gambler, and gambling is his favorite hobby, as he himself has stated. He began gambling after leaving his family, but when he met Megumi’s mother, he changed – due to her influence, he stopped killing sorcerers and gambling altogether. But, when Megumi’s mother died, he returned to his old self and took up gambling once again, which is why we could see him on the race tracks in the second season of the anime. We don’t know if it is an addiction or not, but he does it quite often and doesn’t seem to be successful all the time.

The rest of this article will focus on Toji Foshiguro and his personal history in the Jujutsu Kaisen series. Toji Foshiguro is a popular villain in the series, and he played a strikingly important role in two arcs, although this article will primarily focus on one aspect of his personal life and not his general role in the storyline. His story interests all fans, so we will reveal what happened to him in this article. This article will contain some spoilers from the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, so be careful how you approach it.

Toji Fushiguro is, indeed, a gambler

Toji Fushiguro is Megumi’s father and a former member of the Zenin Clan. Born as Toji Zenin, similar to Maki, he was born with a Heavenly Restriction, which made him completely devoid of cursed energy. In exchange for this, he gained superhuman physical abilities and highly developed senses, enabling him to see and sense cursed spirits.

Rejected by his family for this condition, he became a sorcerer assassin, even selling his son to the Zenin family if the boy’s malevolent energy manifested itself.

He was able to defeat both Gojo and Geto in their first encounter, bringing Gojo to the brink of death, which is only saved by acquiring the reverse evil technique, which allows him to heal. He is easily killed by Gojo in their second meeting, though, when the sorcerer uses his most powerful technique; while dying, he tells him about his son Megumi, entrusting it to Gojo to take care of it.

During the Shibuya incident, he was brought back to life by Ogami using her nephew as a host body so that he could kill the sorcerers, but he managed to break free of her control as the spell collided with the body devoid of curse energy and killed her.

Guided now only by the desire to kill, he eliminates Dagon, engages in the clash with other sorcerers, and confronts Megumi (who does not recognize him) until, realizing that his son has maintained his individuality outside the Zenin Clan, he decides to kill himself, saving him.

This is Toji’s story in brief, but what interests us here is one aspect of his private life. Namely, in the second episode of the second season of Jujutsu Kaisen, Toji Fushiguro is – on two occasions – seen at the race tracks where he watches boat races, and based on his reactions, it is quite obvious that he has bet on them. And while he seems quite confident, one of these bouts was thoroughly unsuccessful for him, but that did not seem to discourage him.

He wasn’t happy with it but wasn’t discouraged – there’s always another bout. This, of course, raised the question of whether Toji Fushiguro was a gambler in Jujutsu Kaisen.

Usually, people who spend their days at the race tracks are gamblers, and in the case of Toji Fushiguro, we can confirm that it is true. Namely, after leaving his family (the Zenin clan), Toji became an assassin and a gambler, with gambling being his favorite hobby and pastime, as he could also earn money from it.

He stopped for a period, though, when he met Megumi’s mother, who seemingly had a profound influence on him, so much, in fact, that he stopped both killing sorcerers and gambling, which was a big thing for him. But, right after she died, he reverted back to his old bad habits and became the old Toji.

So yes, Toji Fushiguro is a gambler; that much we can confirm. Is he successful? Well, like every gambler, we suppose, he has his good and bad days – sometimes he wins, sometimes he loses, but it doesn’t bother him too much. In his case, it doesn’t seem like an addiction or a compulsion. It seems to be simply for the thrill and to pass the time, as gambling is not his main source of income, and when he is actively working on an assignment, he doesn’t gamble (okay, he did gamble while working on the current assignment, but he wasn’t actively involved in it at the time).

So yes, he is a gambler, but it seems more like a hobby than an actual problem for him, so it can be noted that it is simply a personality trait of his and nothing more.
