Kevin Feige Reveals Epic Inspiration for Galactus in ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’

This year’s D23 was packed with thrilling announcements from both the Marvel Studios and Marvel Animation panels. Among the many reveals was a collaboration between Epic Games and Marvel, bringing some of Marvel’s most iconic characters into Fortnite.
On August 16, Fortnite’s Battle Royale will introduce Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four in Chapter 5, Season 4: ‘Absolute Doom.’ This update will let players uncover clues about future Marvel films, further connecting the game to Marvel’s upcoming projects.
Marvel characters have appeared in Fortnite before, as regular players will know. Galactus was introduced at the end of Chapter 2: Season 3 as a major antagonist who attempted to absorb the Zero Point’s power to defeat the Black Winter but was ultimately defeated by Marvel heroes sent by Thor, leading to the Devourer of Worlds live event. Although Galactus is no longer directly involved, his actions have significantly impacted the game, influencing seasons from Chapter 2: Season 5 to Chapter 2: Season 8, and Chapter 3: Season 2 during the Zero War.
At the D23 event, Kevin Feige shared a surprising detail about how Fortnite has already influenced an upcoming movie. He revealed that he showed the crew of ‘The Fantastic Four: First Steps’ a Fortnite clip of Galactus destroying worlds as a source of inspiration.
Galactus was confirmed for the movie with the official casting of Ralph Ineson. At this year’s SDCC, we also got a glimpse of the first visual render of Galactus, depicted as the villain staring through the windows of a high-rise building.
While this may not be the final look, since the movie recently entered production, it suggests that Galactus could be quite comic-accurate.
