Kingpin’s Blood-Soaked White Suit Return in ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 Is the Most Ominous Set Photo Yet

Wilson Fisk has always communicated through clothing. The pristine white suit, the commanding posture, the air of a man who believes he owns whatever room he walks into. For over a decade, Vincent D’Onofrio has worn the Kingpin of Crime like armor, and every wardrobe choice the character makes carries the weight of a statement. So when a new batch of set photos from ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 surfaced this week, fans knew immediately that something significant was being telegraphed.

Principal photography for the third season has been underway since March, with filming taking place at Silvercup Studios in Queens and across various New York City locations. The production has been active on the streets of Brooklyn, and cameras have been catching D’Onofrio in between takes throughout the spring and into the summer. Dario Scardapane remains as showrunner, with directors Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, and Iain B. MacDonald returning to helm various episodes, with a suspected release in March 2027.

The first wave of Season 3 set photos painted a portrait of a man in retreat. D’Onofrio was seen looking less distinguished than ever before, wearing a casual shirt, a long winter jacket, and a beanie, and sporting a thick, white Santa Claus-esque beard, marking the first time in his eleven-year MCU tenure that the character has worn facial hair. Faded campaign posters for Sheila Rivera’s mayoral run were visible in the background, with the ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ trailer already having confirmed that Rivera successfully takes office as the new mayor.

The photos shared by Daredevil Shots on June 24, sourced via Getty Images, tell a very different story. D’Onofrio is back on the Brooklyn streets, and Kingpin has reclaimed his signature white suit. The tailored look is unmistakably Fisk at the height of his power, a sharp contrast to the earlier Season 3 set photos that showed the character wandering the city in a long coat and thick white beard. The suit is not pristine, however, as blood stains mark the jacket and collar, immediately signaling that Fisk’s quiet exile has already ended in violence.

The emotional stakes behind the costume shift run deep. D’Onofrio addressed what the Season 2 finale cost his character, saying in an interview with GamesRadar+, “It’s very different to see what happens to him at the end of the second season. It’s a very different feel. We pick up from what those events have done to him in the third season.” He also said, “I think it damages him in a deep, deep way. I think that it’s going to take some doing to shock himself out of that somehow.” A man that shattered, stepping back into his white suit on a blood-soaked night, reads less like a comeback and more like a reckoning.

Season 3 will also reunite the Defenders for the first time since 2017, as Krysten Ritter, Mike Colter, and Finn Jones are all expected to have roles in the show, marking the first live-action Disney+ series in the MCU to run for three seasons. Meanwhile, Charlie Cox described the upcoming season as feeling like the show has “shed the skin of the Mayor Fisk era,” calling it “a new book, a new dawn a little bit.”

The white suit was always Kingpin’s crown. Seeing it soaked in blood before the season has even finished filming suggests that ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 is positioning Fisk as something rawer and more dangerous than the calculating political animal fans watched ascend in Season 2. What do you think that bloodstained suit means for where Kingpin is headed in Season 3?
