Kirsten Dunst Admits She Has Never Seen ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ But Would Gladly Reprise Her Role as Mary Jane Watson
Whether you prefer Mary Jane or Gwen Stacy, Kirsten Dunst’s performance as Mary Jane in Raimi’s ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy is widely respected. It’s her most successful movie financially so far.
Even though she’s taken on different roles in different kinds of movies since then, fans mostly link her to Peter Parker’s main love interest. That’s why people naturally wondered why she wasn’t in ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ with Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield.
In a recent interview with GQ, Dunst confessed that she would have been open to making an appearance, but she never got the call. She also mentioned she hadn’t seen the movie, so she couldn’t say how her involvement would have played out.
No, no. I would have. It would be funny to be like, OK, let’s take Tobey [Maguire] and I and do it in a weird indie way where it’s like a different kind of superhero film. Like how they did that movie Chronicle. It could be cool.
Dunst also shared that working on the original ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy felt more like working on an indie film.
It was more innocent, I think. Sam Raimi was like a cult director, so it felt like we were making an indie disguised as a superhero film.
In the past, Dunst said she’d do another superhero movie for the money. It’s an interesting perspective now, considering the huge budgets and high box office hopes. We might not see her in the MCU soon, but she has ‘Civil War’ by Alex Garland coming up, and she’s set to appear in ‘Rhubarb.’ Got something to add? Drop a comment below!
