Continuing with our comparisons of Demon Slayer characters, we have, once again, decided to focus on two demons. In this article, we are going to compare the powers and abilities of a member of the Twelve Kizuki, Kokushibo, and his “creator,” Muzan Kibutsuji, the King of all Demons. This comparison is, in most cases, quite clear, as Demons are ranked based on their powers and abilities, but we are still going to give you a category-by-category comparison so that you know who the stronger is and who would win in a direct clash between these two demons, Muzan or Kokushibo.

Because Muzan is the Demon King and the creator of all Demons, he is stronger than Kokushibo. But, out of all the Demons, Kokushibo actually came the closest to Muzan’s level of power, and he is by far the strongest Demon in the series, aside from Muzan himself. Muzan would win, but it would be a very difficult fight.

Now that you have the short version of the answer, the rest of the article will be divided into several categories, as we will talk about these two characters and reveal which of them is stronger. Ultimately, we will give our final verdict and explain why Muzan is stronger than Kokushibo.

Physical powers and fighting skills

Kokushibo demonstrated great physical prowess by effortlessly raising a massive blade several times heavier than a typical katana and attacking it continuously at astounding speeds without pausing or exerting any effort. It can be assumed that Kokushibo had physical strength greater than or equivalent to higher rank three Akaza, a demon who can break the earth with his bare fists, since he absorbed more blood from Muzan Kibutsuji than Akaza.

Kokushibo has developed into the second-strongest sword fighter ever, after his younger twin brother, Yoriichi Tsugikuni, after spending more than 400 years practicing and perfecting his swordsmanship techniques and considerably enhancing his physical abilities even further.

When engaged in combat, Muzan can appear more monstrous, leaving his chest exposed and his limbs covered with a dark red mace with big, pointed teeth. Although he lost a lot of energy fighting Tamayo’s human-transforming medicine, he was nevertheless completely capable of outwitting a number of low-ranking Demon Slayers and devouring dozens of them within minutes. His strength, speed, reflexes, and power are greatly enhanced in this form.

While in this mode, he has sharp-toothed jaws/mouths that are scattered throughout his. These jaws/mouths are not only his main point of attack in combat but also help him heal more quickly by allowing him to tear through his foes and consume their flesh.

This is a rather complex topic. Muzan is a brilliant fighter, but Kokushibo has both the fighting skills of a Demon and a Demon Slayer, which would give him a slight advantage. But, on the other hand, Muzan’s endurance is much higher and he is, in that aspect, above Kokushibo. That is why we have decided to split the points here.

Points: Kokushibo 1, Muzan 1

Speed

Kokushibo had incredible speed, probably much exceeding that of all the other Kizuki, as evidenced by the fact that he severed Akaza’s limb before the latter even understood what had happened. He often demonstrated his incredible speed. He was able to easily outperform Muichiro’s techniques at first, moving so quickly that it appeared as though he had teleported.

Kokushibo’s speed, according to Muichiro, was in a different dimension than his own. In spite of having his arm severed just as he arrived, Kokushibo was capable of “teleporting” to the area where Genya was shooting him with his shotgun before the shots could reach him. He then quickly severed his second arm and body, giving the impression that he was not even moving.

Muzan may strike a common person with his claws and infect them with his blood quickly enough for no one to notice because of his speed. Even when one of his Lower Moons attempted to flee from him and managed to go a fair distance without Nakime’s assistance, he quickly beheaded him.

Physically, Muzan might not be faster than Kokushibo, they are roughly on the same level in that aspect. But Muzan’s transportation skills, which are the result of his demonic powers, are so amazing that we had to give the point to him.

Points: Kokushibo 1, Muzan 2

Regeneration

Like other Demons, Kokushibo can heal his wounds without any trouble. Still, because he is one of the twelve Demons that make up the Twelve Demonic Moons, his healing happens considerably faster, displaying his immense power. In addition to his physical form, Kokushibo can regenerate his katana, which is forged from his flesh and blood. Similar to what happened with Akaza, his regeneration evolves to a point where he can reconstruct his head, approaching Muzan’s level of evolution.

The highlight of Muzan’s regeneration is that he can even regenerate his own head when it is severed, unlike the demons he creates who die by having their heads severed, with the Sun Breathing Style being the only thing that can kill them. Muzan can regenerate from any kind of injury, even recovering his limbs when they are severed; he is also capable of withstanding an explosion at close range, being able to rebuild his body as fast as it is destroyed.

This is a category where Muzan has no equal among the Demons, and in that aspect, we can only confirm that he also surpasses Kokushibo’s regeneration skills.

Points: Kokushibo 1, Muzan 3

Blood Demon Art

Kokushibo can make and control dozens of razor-sharp blades in the typical crescent moon form from his own body thanks to his Blood Demon Art, the Crescent Moon Blades, which complements his earlier fighting style, Moon Breathing. They can be either brilliant yellow or bright blue in hue and are thought to have been formed from his blood.

Kokushibo’s strikes are incredibly unpredictable and difficult to predict because these crescent moon swords constantly change in every aspect, including their shape and size. The swings of his blades are incredibly lethal and dangerous because of the Blood Demon Art, which considerably increases the effectiveness of his methods. Getting around his Blood Power is challenging because of how unstable it is.

Muzan’s Blood Demon Art is Biokinesis. It might seem like a relatively weak power, but Biokinesis allows Muzan to use his body amazingly. He has incredible shapeshifting powers, which far surpass similar abilities possessed by other Demons. He also has a total of seven hearts and five brains, a fact that combined with his Blood Demon Art, makes him almost immortal, as it is exceptionally difficult to kill him (he can, in fact, survive if even a small piece of him is not destroyed). He can create flesh clones of himself, and using his blood, he can also turn others into Demons.

Muzan has a very versatile set of skills when it comes to his Blood Demon Art, to say the least. But, we cannot ignore that Kokushibo’s Blood Demon Art complements his Breathing Style, which is why we decided to split the points in this last category.

Points: Kokushibo 2, Muzan 4

Muzan was stronger than Kokushibo, but he still feared him

And now for our article’s most important and interesting section – the analysis. Here, we will use what we have learned about these two characters and analyze how all these facts would (or would not) help them in a fight against each other. Let us continue.

Strongest Twelve Kizuki (Upper Demon Moons) in Demon Slayer Ranked

Muzan Kibutsuji is the father of all Demons, and he actually created every known Demon, including Kokushibo. In that aspect, Muzan is superior to all Demons in the series, including Kokushibo. But, the difference between them is not that big, which was a fact that even Muzan was aware of. Namely, due to his former position as a Demon Slayer, Kokushibo is the only Demon in the series who was a master in both fields (Kaigaku was not a master like him) – being a Demon and being a Demon Slayer. In that aspect, he would force Muzan to make an effort, but we ultimately think he would not be able to defeat him.
