‘Let Him Go’ Ending Explained: Do George and Margaret Rescue Jimmy and Lorna?
Welcome to the Ending Explained for Let Him Go, a film directed by Thomas Bezucha starring Kevin Costner, Diane Lane, Lesley Manville, Kayli Carter, Booboo Stewart, and Jeffrey Donovan. The film marks a reunion of Costner and Lane, who have previously worked together in films like Man of Steel. This time, they also worked as a pair of devoted grandparents who would do anything to rescue their grandson from the clutches of a very sick family that lives in isolation and spreads fear wherever they go.
The film could be considered a sort of modern western. A genre that has been finding popularity among audiences thanks in part to the success of the work done by Taylor Sheridan, including the hit series Yellowstone, which stars Costner in one of the main roles. In the same way that Yellowstone does, the show uses the wonderful scenery of the state of Montana to create a sense of epicness. Even when the story is very much personal for the characters, it involves only their destiny and their families.

Who Are The Weboys In Let Him Go?
The film starts just like any other western film. In a very short amount of time, it places the story in the 1960s in The United States of America, more precisely, in the state of Montana. There, we meet the Blackledge Family. The family consists of retired sheriff George, his wife, Margaret, their son, James, and Jame’s wife, Lorna. James and Lorna also have a tiny baby named Jimmy. The family runs a small ranch where they manage to live a peaceful existence. However, destiny, as always, has different ideas.
One day, Margaret is spending time with Lorna and her grandson, Jimmy, when she sees through the window that the horse her son, James, was training had returned alone. This is a bad sign. Margaret immediately calls George, who grabs his horse and gallops in his son’s direction. When he finds him, he finds him dead. It isn’t clear what happened, but James fell and hit his head, killing him. The family dynamic would change years later when Lorna, who had apparently met another man, decides to marry him. The man in question is Donnie Weboy.

Lorna moves from the Blackledge’s home, and one day when Margaret decides to go visit her grandson, she discovers that Lorna, Jimmy, and Donnie have moved from the state. She is told they are going to Donnie’s family in North Dakota. Margaret is worried because she has seen that Lorna doesn’t really like Donnie and that Donnie is also a violent man. She grabs a gun, some clothing, and a bag and follows Lorna and Jimmy to rescue their grandchildren. George doesn’t know if getting involved in Lorna’s life is correct, but Margaret convinces him to go with her.
The couple begins their journey, and they cross many places. Along the way, they keep meeting people who know about the Weboy family but, for some reason, are quite scared of them. The family seems to be composed of mostly violent men who are willing to do very bad things. No one wants to be on their way. The couple is told that if they ask for Weboy, then Weboy will find them. They meet a young Native American man named Peter and stay the night with him after telling him their story. Peter then points them toward a man named Bill Weboy.
Do George And Margaret Rescue Jimmy And Lorna?
Thanks to Peter’s directions, George and Margaret manage to find Bill Weboy. However, the meeting didn’t go as expected. This man, Bill, is quite despicable; you can feel it by being around him. He tells them that he knows who they are and that they have been asking about him and his family for a while. Bill tells the couple he will take them to see Lorna and Jimmy. There is one condition, though: Bill demands that Margaret drive with him while George follows them in another car.
They accept, but the drive is quite tense. Bill also tries to flirt with Margaret, and it is quite uncomfortable. When they arrive, they go to the house and meet Blanche, the family matriarch and a completely unhinged individual. Blanche decides that George and Margaret cannot spend time with Jimmy and threatens them to leave if they don’t want something bad to happen. The couple leaves, but later they try to convince Lorna to escape with them. Lorna doesn’t do it because she fears for her life and Jimmy’s.

George and Margaret are later attacked by the Weboy, who learn about their plan to take Lorna and Jimmy away. Bill tries to rape Margaret, but George defends her. However, they consequently used a hatchet to cut some of his fingers. George wakes up in a hospital, but even the police do nothing against Weboy. Margaret drives to Peter’s and asks for help. Together they go to the house to rescue Lorna. George manages to jump on Donnie and starts a fire that serves as a distraction.
However, George is overpowered, and Blanche manages to shoot him. Margaret and Peter arrive, and Margaret fights Blanche, using a gun to kill all the Weboy’s men. Blanche, in despair, shoots George once again, finally killing him. Margaret kills Blanche with her shotgun and escapes with Peter, Lorna, and Jimmy. As Peter and Margaret go separate, she looks at the small boy and knows they did the right thing. Even if George had to sacrifice himself, their boy is still alive, and he can have the chance to grow upright as his father did.
