Fans Discover That Lilia Calderu Is Behind the Events of ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’

In Episode 6 of Agatha All Along, the mystery surrounding Billy’s sigil was finally unveiled, shedding light on why no one seemed able to discern his true nature.

We discovered that during Billy Kaplan’s Bar Mitzvah, Lilia Calderu performed a palm reading and saw something unsettling in his future.

She noted that his lifeline was split in two, and for reasons unknown, Lilia chose to cast a sigil on him, preventing anyone from uncovering his true identity.

The split in his lifeline clearly suggested that while Billy Kaplan would die, his life would continue—presumably as someone else: Billy Maximoff, a.k.a. Wanda’s son.

The moment Lilia Calderu created a sigil and tucked it into his coat pocket, she seemingly forgot about him, causing the teen to lose the ability to express his true identity. However, as later events revealed, he eventually rediscovered himself when he reincarnated as Billy Maximoff.

This spell not only concealed his identity but also erased his entire existence, effectively resolving a significant plot hole in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness: why Wanda went to such great lengths to search for her children in the multiverse when her sons were technically alive on Earth-616.

Lilia’s sigil presumably blocked all methods of locating him or recognizing who he truly was. It’s unclear why the sigil was able to withstand the magic of the Darkhold, but it did, leading Wanda to believe her children existed only in an alternate universe.

This implies that Lilia inadvertently set off the chain of events in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. If the sigil hadn’t been in place, the Scarlet Witch might have been able to “feel” her two sons in her original reality.

However, this also introduces another plot hole and complicates the narrative on a different level, as it suggests that the sigil has no bearing on Wanda’s ability to sense her children on Earth-616.

As far as we know, the sigil was cast only on Billy, not on Tommy. In fact, we have little information about Tommy at this point, aside from Billy’s claims that he can sense him but can’t pinpoint his location.

While it makes sense that Wanda couldn’t locate Billy, it raises questions as to why she couldn’t find Tommy, especially since Billy—who has just begun practicing magic—was able to do so.

This situation feels convenient for the plot of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness and the events of Agatha All Along, but it undeniably opens up a significant plot hole.

Further supporting this theory is something Agatha tells Billy toward the end of the episode: “Every witch with a heartbeat can hear you, you know.” This suggests that, without the sigil, Billy’s existence is now evident, implying that Tommy’s existence should have been equally apparent from the beginning.

It’s complicated, and we still have three episodes left to uncover more details, but here’s what we know so far: if Lilia Calderu hadn’t cast that sigil on Billy, the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness might never have occurred.
