After making a special cameo appearance in the post-credit scene of Wonder Woman 1984, Lynda Carter will definitely return in Wonder Woman 3, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter.

Carter was present at the Wonder Woman panel at the DC FanDome last month with director Patty Jenkins. Although that still wasn’t the legit confirmation, because it could’ve been that Carter showed up at the FanDome only because she’s indeed the legend among the Wonder Woman fans, or it could be because she’s actually taking a part in the upcoming project.

Now, we know for sure. The main Wonder Woman star, Gal Gadot, revealed for The Hollywood Reporter that we’ll see Lynda Carter as Asteria again.

“First of all, Lynda has mentored me from the very first moment that I got cast as Wonder Woman. She was always there, talking to me, giving me tips and everything. She’s a true champion of what Patty and I have been doing, and it was so great that we managed to find the right opportunity to bring her to the last movie and now to the third one. […] It’s even better this time. I love her very much. I love her dearly.”

Gal Gadot for The Hollywood Reporter

Lynda Carter played the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman in the TV show Wonder Woman that aired between 1975 and 1979. When the first live-action Wonder Woman movie was released in 2017 with Gal Gadot, there were many rumors that Carter could make a special comeback in the movie. Those rumors became a real thing three years later in the sequel Wonder Woman 1984 where Carter made a brief appearance as Asteria, the legendary Amazonian and the previous bearer of the Golden Armor that Gadot’s Diana Prince later wore at the end of the movie.

Carter and Jenkins said at DC FanDome that they’re super excited for the threequel, and Gal Gadot recently revealed that script is actively in the works. The release date for Wonder Woman 3 is still TBA.

The role of Diana Prince from the ‘70s and the role of Asteria aren’t only the DC roles Carter played. She also played made a few special appearances as the president of the USA in the second and fourth seasons of Supergirl.
