Major ‘Spider-Man 4’ Script Rewrites Reportedly Underway Amid Feige and Holland Creative Disagreement

‘Spider-Man 4’ was officially announced last year, but not much is known about it yet. What we do know is that Tom Holland and Zendaya will return, and Destin Daniel Cretton will direct the movie.

Before it was confirmed, rumors claimed the story was undecided between two options: continuing the Multiverse plot from No Way Home or focusing on a street-level story featuring Daredevil and Kingpin.

After news broke that Robert Downey Jr. would return to the MCU as Doctor Doom, Marvel Studios reportedly decided to go with the Multiverse storyline.

If you’ve been following the latest rumors, you’ve probably heard that many characters are expected to appear in the upcoming Spider-Man movie. These include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men, Knull, Venom, Spider-Man 2099, and Miles Morales. It’s said that Sony and Marvel Studios want to make a movie similar to Deadpool & Wolverine, but with Sony’s characters instead of Fox’s.

A few months ago, Tom Holland mentioned that the script was still being worked on. Now, insider MyTimeToShineHello reports that the movie is facing script problems.

MTTSH says that the Spider-Man 4 script is going through major rewrites and might even start over from scratch. While Tom Holland likes the current story, Kevin Feige is unhappy with it, causing delays as they completely rework the script.

The most recent version of the script for Spider-Man 4 is set to undergo a significant rewrites, and may even be scrapped altogether. Apparently, Tom Holland likes the story, but Kevin Feige does not, and they are now rewriting it and changing everything. The script isn’t ready yet and won’t be for a while.

As mentioned before, this isn’t the first time these discussions have come up. There have been earlier disagreements about whether the movie will continue the Multiverse storyline or take a more grounded, street-level approach.

We can’t confirm these rumors until Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, or Tom Holland make an official statement. The movie is currently set to be released on July 24, 2026.
